We are talking about the mini protos, as this is the mini protos forum.

Dylan, I find it hard to comprehend how the TP could be twice as good as the competition. And it would have to be twice as good to justify that price!

I tried other packs, the TP's blew them away, and perform as good now as when they were new, hundreds of flights ago. I would have spent the same amount on gens ace by now at the rate I was killing them.

I have logged 1000 watt+ peaks with them on the stretch mini p and 2520 motor. I'm not one of the guys that get 5 minute flights on a stretch mini, so keep that in mind if I was, lesser packs would be fine...

They are the only TP packs I own.

I guess that's my issue, I simply do not have the skills or setup to justify packs like that. My $22 packs lasted well over a year, and are only just now starting to show signs of giving up. Spending that kind of cash on packs would be completely wasted on me!

Yup at this point TP would be a waste on me, the 22 buck ones give me all I need.

Would a pack that is 115x34x28 mm fit?

I'm referring to the align 1450mah 45c packs. Weight is 230g

Yes it will, I have the 1250 and they are the same dimensions just a bit shorter, I am not sure if they would balance good, but they should fit under the canopy.

In the past I have avoided Align packs, but I figured since we are so limited in selection, I would try them again, and see how they do, so far so good...

I've stayed away from these because of the youtube video where the guy with the stretched mini-p with 2520 puffs the battery on a 2.5 minute flight. What happened on his flight?

edit: it looks like he was using a 65c battery, not the 70c g8.

That motor is a beast on the stretched mini, I run a 13 tooth with it governed at 3100rpm and am lucky to get 3:40 (to 80%) from it. Ross was more than likely running a 15 tooth at 3400+, and any battery will puff when flown hard to lvc, brand or c rating doesn't really matter. I think the 70c would have had the same fate.

Got to hand it to Ross too, he has a knack for exposing weaknesses in heli mechanics and electronics

I only made one. If I can find a cheaper source for it, I might be able to make you one. The place I bought mine charges near $20 for UPS ground on it

I have no idea, tail pulleys are generally pretty narrow, the one I used has a bulky shoulder below the teeth with a set screw. I had to machine the top of the pinion down, bore the back side to 4mm, and enlarge the set screw threads, and grind a flat on the 4mm portion of the motor shaft.

This is the specifics on the pulley I used.

Yes, one pinion ends up over $30 shipped.

Might be worth it if it lasts longer. How many flights do you have on yours? I get serious shark teeth on the stock one after 150-200 flights.

I have 4 tp packs for my mini p, they seem to last a while and by that I fly at least 2 flights a day , more on weekends so that's about 1000+ flights on those batteries, not sure if youre aware but tp have a 1/2 price replacement policy on their batteries so near enough every 2 years I get new pack for half the cost of the street price, and the latest chemistry to boot, that works out at around $39 per battery, I know the initial expense is high but I don't mind paying half that for new batteries. oh and there is a maximum of 4 batteries per year.

I am seriously thinking that with the 2520 scorp that a 5 cell 1800 mah TP 70c lipo is the way to go. Running a 17 to 18 tooth pinion (18 with castle set rpm governor)
That is unless TP releases some 1550/1600 mah 70c 6s lipos! Rumor has it that this may happen!
