Default Compass warp 360 scorpion motor shaft size??

Hi i just got my new scorpion motor for my warp 360. It is a hk 2520-1360 kv. It was listed as having a 4 mm main shaft but it really is 3.48 mm. So the pinion gear is wobbly when i tighten the set screw. Also the shaft does not reach the bearing block. Any ideas as what i should do? Thanks.

If the wobble is not to much, you may put a bit of green loc around the shaft to lock the pinion, and let it set at the desired height, with the motor sitting on its can on a flat surface.
This will center the pinion on the shaft nicely. I also prefer a tight fit, on the compass parts its perfectly tight. When the loc it's fully set, install the grub screw (be careful with pinion alignement)
Lots of pilots flying without third bearing support, just don´t tighten the belt too much.
I thought the Scorpion had 4mm shaft....

You need this one;

I did the same modification.

Default Shaft

That wont work its the same size 3.5 mm shaft. I need a 4 mm shaft or a pinion gear with a 3.5 mm hole.

Not sure i would trust a glue to hold it. Was thinking about shim stock around the shaft.

And it was supposed to have a 4 mm shaft on the scorpion motor. Seller said it must be a factory defect

So, you didn't buy the motor new? You bought it used? If that's the case, contact the seller.

The shaft listed is the correct shaft. That is your only other option.

I meant the motor shaft in this post: https://www.helifreak.com/showpost.p...24&postcount=3 is the correct shaft for the motor you are returning to the seller.

Scorpion does make a motor with a 4mm shaft so please, once you get your refund order or buy your motor from a reputable source.

Im not sure how buying that shaft kit will help. Its shaft diameter is 3.5mm. Same as mine. I did find a compass pinion gear with 3.17mm hole. I suppose i could bring it to the toolroom at work and have them drill it out to 3.5mm to fit my motor.

How do you arrive on the conclusion that the shaft listed is what you say it is when the listing says 4 mm? I'm curious. Scorpion has multiple shaft kits and the one listed is the correct shaft.

Click the link below and you'll see what I mean.

Ok i didnt see the 4mm shaft when i researched it. I do see it in your link though. Not sure if im confident in having to press the shaft out and the new one in without messing it up. You dont think reaming a 3.17mm pinion gear to 4mm to be an easier solution?

It depends on how you enlarge the hole, the material of the pinion, and the mod of the pinion. Remember, not all gears are created equally.

I got a motor with 3,5mm shaft when ordering the same motor from scorpion.
I contacted them and they shipped me a 4mm shaft wich i swapped out myself without any issues.
The problem came when spooling up the motor and my Kontronik Jazz would not spool it.
A hobbywing Platinum Pro V3 would spool it but it stopped abruptly smoking the ESC befor reaching governing speed.
Luckily i had no blades on the heli while doing these.
Doing some investigation it appeared the motor had a 3500KV stator and not the 1380KV branded on the can.
My advice is to ship it back and get a new one with 4mm shaft.
Scorpion took care of me at the end so no grudge against them but a 1360KV motor with a 3,5mm shaft is not a good sign at these moment.

I did finally get the 4mm shaft from scorpion this week. I pressed out the other shaft and re pressed in the new 4mm shaft. As a bonus the new shaft is longer and reached the lower bearing block. Took her for a flight today. Homestly i noticed no difference in power. Was just a light hover and some forward flight. Again i cant 3d a heli i just do basic stuff. After i landed maybe 6 mins of flying i checked the motor it was super hot to the touch. Esc was warm but not overly hot. Overall i should not have wasted my time and left the warp as is with stock motor imo.

That scorpion runs hot. But should also be quite more powerfull then stock.
Are your lipos in good shape?
Also some tune in the ESC may be necessary to get more power from the motor, Scorpion has more poles if i can remember.
But probably it's too much motor for your flying, mine still spins stock motor, lovely little shiny motor
