Default Kosmik - How have you mounted yours ?

Received my Kosmik last week, I've see a picture of Jaysons, Just wondering what other ways you guy's have mounedt yours in the xxtreme. Also the Kontronik BEC leads aren't that long, I suspect the won't reach with out taking the ferrite ring off, but Kontronik recomend against this?

Here's some shots of my setup/install.

Brackets were made from a short length of brown anodised aluminium angle. I drilled some holes to make it look a little more "off the shelf" and used my Dremel to sculpture the ends so I could get an allen key in to the bolts that hold the leads on. The washers I used are those aluminium spacer washers included with Edge tail blades and the mounting bolts to the heli chassis are existing spacer bolts which I replaced with suitably longer ones to allow for the washer and extend further into the aluminium frame spacers.

I made up two of my own BEC leads up as the originals were too short for this location. This gave me the chance to invert the plugs into the ESC so they match the cutouts in the body of the ESC.

I did look at mounting the Kosmik on the side of the heli for better crash protection, however, it wasn't possible to get the battery/motor wires in a suitable configuration.

Some bloke in another thread wants to rid the world of braid on helis Jays!

I say, hang him up by his toenails. lol

Love the braid mate. Makes the wiring look all the more like it's meant to be there.

Cheers Damien,

I now use the dual wall (glue on the inside) and 4x shrink tube as it holds those annoying frayed ends of the braid better. I haven't come across reasons not to use braid and my choice to use it is based on two, mechanical protection and aesthetics.

I've also gone away from cable ties and now use the 10mm wide Velcro strap. Adjustable, easily removed/relocated and doesn't damage the cables.

Also a believer in hot glue. On my ESC you'll notice I've only glued one BEC wire. This is because I need to pull the master out for my Progdisc.

Why is the X a static display?

I just drilled some holes in the carbon fiber to line up with the Kosmiks screw holes. Put some rubber spacers between the ESC and the frame (So when I tightened the screws down the spacers squished out a little bit) thinking about putting some velcro on the frame itself but haven't decided yet.

I will take a picture sometime tonight and post it.

Wouldn't mind seeing the pictures John, I must admit I only had a very quick look at it but I thought the holes on the kosmik would clash with the frame braces under that plate, will take another look this evening

Is it just the picture or does yours fit inside the frames?

Just the picture I guess. The edge of the Kosmik is almost exactly the width of the frames (It doesn't stick out over the side much if at all)

I mounted mine by attaching a plate made of G10 to the stock YGE standoffs and then attaching the Kosmik to that plate using velcro and straps, turned out pretty good I think. Still clears the canopy with room to spare.

Can someone give me a weight of the Kosmic 160HV with or without cables? Kontronik site says 200 grams but.... I have found in past their posted specs to be out to lunch. If someone could confirm I'd be gratefull! Seems best place to ask as lots of Kosmic owners!

Looks good but isn't the point of having the screw down terminals defeated when you have a soldered connector on the end???

Personally I dont like the idea of hard wiring the motor directly to the esc. Having the connectors makes servicing easier and in the even of a crash I would rather the esc separate from the motor should that area be affected.

It's a 200 I know but until someone gets some large gonads and opens up a 160 and 200 we'd assume they weigh the same. I've installed mine without the yellow motor wires which I think adds up to a 50g saving.

Have you done anything with the frames? On my logo 700 they are curved at the front, seems kosmik is exact width of the carbon braces wonder if it was meant to fit inside?
