My 550e DFC v3 winning a Balloon Popping contest.

People were discounting me due to having a smaller heli and being my first time doing any contest ... but me trusty 550 showed em up.

I'm not much of a 3d guy, more of an old fart guy, but I'm really enjoying the new (to me) 550e. My maiden was yesterday, so I'm still getting the feel of it, but so far everything I've done is easier on the 550 by far than it is on my old 450x. Best of all, it handles the wind great! I'm going to have to set my timer higher as I'm coming down with a lot of battery capacity left. I apologize in advance for marveling out loud how much easier my poor imitation of piro flips are to do with the 550...

So nice isn't it George? Nice 4th flight. I can't wait to put mine up Thursday and Friday.

It really is a lot nicer to fly, which is what the guys at the club told me I would discover. I will keep my 450s to work on taking stuff from the sim to real life. But, this bird is a whole lot more capable for sure. I'll try to learn to shut up when I'm recording too. LOL.

Good luck on your next flights, I'm probably done for a few days with bad weather coming in again. Take some video.

Had to run the glaciers through to keep from having them sitting charged. Had two more packs left and this one the firsr of the last two.
550e 12-19-2014:
ALign 550e (7) (8 min 2 sec)

Now I just have to wait on my charger to arrive before I can put her up again.
I find myself wanting to reflect on each flight and really try and improve. Having said that I'm still working on Tx settings and havent hit 100% tc yet or messed with any of the Talon 90's settings via usb cable either.

....just one more battery....

Looking good Ed! It looks like we're on similar paths on our helicopter journey. Fun to watch your videos as you upgrade helis and progress.

Try asking in the Ikon forum Mate. You will get the answer to your questions over there.

Default Post your T-Rex 550 videos here!

Video has to be from the GoPro. Looks like it took a little while to hit bottom but still some light. How deep was it? I assume GoPro in waterproof case or did it just last that long recording? How mounted? I hung mine off base plate and added extensions to landing gear but had a lot more jello. Would love to see pics

Is very cool production and I hope not too costly!!

For comparison:
