Yay! Align announce 3G software and programming cables will be available about 10th May 2010 http://www.align.com.tw/alignhtml/EN..._software.html

Hang on isn't it already the 17th May. What gives, c'mon Align this is . How are we expected to support a company that continually lies. Either give us an accurate release date or admit that the programmable flybarless system that I bought isn't programmable. Mine certainly isn't without the software and cable. This experience will definately be influencing all my future RC Heli related purchases. And by the way DS410 servos are rubbish also...

Where on that page does it say "10th May"???? all I can see is "about one week"

I can think of another company that makes Align look very small that never gets a release date correct, yet millions of people still support them!

OK doesn't say May 10th, but page is dated May 3rd and it does say about 1 week. So I extrapolated that May 3rd plus 1 week equals May 10th.

It says "about". There are a lot of companies that don't get stuff out as first advertised. To name a few are Horizon Hobbies, Tower Hobbies, Curtis Youngblood Enterprises, Align, etc.

Unhappy

Yeah I know, I'm just venting - Stupid me I expected that when I bought a programmable FBL system over 3 months ago that the programming software and cable would be available a bit sooner than this. If I could do it again I would probably not have bought it as the ability to play around with the programming was a draw card to me. If I had bought a V-bar instead I would have gotten something that has been tried and tested by the heli community and doesn't have the 3G teething problems.

This is assuming that the tail setup is PERFECT to begin with.

Very finicky to get tail rt. PEA CE!

What's up buddy!! So, what do you mean very high gain? Are you talking about the gyro gain on the radio? Do you have it set as GYRO for gyro sensitivity or on AUX1 to switch to rate mode and back? I have not tried that yet. The tail in my heli is kicking too much. I don't like it. I am even thinking about getting a Spartan to bypass the 3G tail gyro because if I keep waiting for Align to release the firmware I might forget how to fly. Just give me a quote on a Quark anyway.

Thanks.

Eddie.

Whatsap edixon! You've seen my stuff fly and you know there's no need for this update or sttings software. Between u and me.......its all just a bandaid to cover poor setup and lack of attention to detail. Sounds like we may have to do a TAIL setup day like we did when u almost gave up on your 3g. Ill have it lockedf in with NO kick in about a pak and a half. Sound familiar? Give me a call. Black plastic quarks btw, will run ya around 100.00. Peace! U know my number.......call me.

I have stated this before and I will stick to my guns on this. The 3-G tail is not capable in it's current form of performing as well as a high end gyro can (GY520,Spartan etc.)

Curious, May I ask, What do you base that on?

Based on my own experience, I have to agree. I tried a V2 on a new 450 Pro. No matter the foam and settings, there would be a wag, slower with less gain, but also less holding power. The Align foam turned out to work best, but still not great.

[.. left out trying to get the other two axis to perform well...]

Realizing this was going to become a never-ending time sink, I put on a regular flybar head and a Spartan Quark (I have flawlessly performing Spartans DS760's on my three nitros). Problem solved - didn't change a thing, same mechanical and gyro gain. Holding rock steady during all maneuvers with no wag, consistent piro rates, with exact stops and no bounce.

The tail of my 450 Pro with the Align 3G doesn't perform well, however, that of my 600 ESP with the 3G V2 is as good as my JR770 3D was. Solid in hard 3D and very precise.

Felipe.

The piro consitency is my biggest complaint. I went through all the different tape mounting combos, balancing checks etc. I do feel the cyclic is working well other than a very slight random elevator bobble.

I tried every tape combo, higher gains, lower gains, using the gear ch instead of the gyro page, endpoints maxed and D/R to control piro speeed, no D/R and end points to set piro speed. Nothing is satisfactory.

As n808 stated there is always a slight wag or the tail does not hold well. From my experience with the GY-520 I know I can have it working perfectly within the first tank of fuel and thats the end of it. The 3-G will fly decent one day and go to hell the next time out.

Ah, yes, right now with the current firmware, I agree, but the sensor/hardware itself is capable, if Align makes a killer software.
I actually tested the Tail aspect of the 3G on one of my Logo's, no fun history for sure.

I will agree in it's curent form. Also have to state, I have only flown the V1. My 500and 700 have a V1. I have a V2 in my new 600N but the unit is faulty.

I really hope they can get this thing performing well. I have too many of them to just abonden ship. I am anxiously awaiting the Total-G for my 700n I piled it up pretty good on Sunday and won't finish the rebuild until I have the Total-G.

What kind of results did you get on the logo tail?

Flying a V-bar 700 is what got me hooked on FBL. I was going to go v-Bar but was offered a great deal on the 3-G's from my local dealer, that along with be packaged with a head made it an easy choice for me. Now I regret the decision sometimes.
