Is there a big upgrade in performance with the lynx tail because the stock one has some slop.

Depends how well your tail was set up. With a vbar and a ds95i, you can hide almost any tail issue.
Things I have noticed: 1) No fiddling to get the tail built right. Everything was smooth out of the box, no binding etc. My MSH parts, I had to mix and match my tail cases, then chamfer my tail slider, fiddle with bolt tension on the pitch lever etc. In the end, after a 2 hour exercise, I had a nice tail...but the lynx took 5 mins 2) Servicing the tail is way easier. Remove the tail fin, unbolt the left side. The idler pulley stays in place. The whole tail shaft assembly can stay in place! Just loop the belt under the idler, around the pulley, reinstall 5 bolts (including the tail fin) and you're on your way. A caveat, I had to ditch my green tail fin, looks like you have to run the lynx fins, but it comes with one, no biggy. 3) Tail blade tension is way easier to set. With plastic grips my options were either no bolt in the grip, or "no way in hell those blades are moving ever." This caused me two issues. Vibes that came and went depending on tail blade position. I don't think they ever fully straighted out in flight. And two...see attached picture. Now I can adjust tension so the blades can fold. Vbar vibe analysis indicates very low vibes at the tail rpm, so at the very least, the blades are spinning out into proper alignment. Oopsie: |

kyle down at Rotary wing RC save my day, he was able to solder my caps back on my YGE 40A!
I shot a few videos this morning, till I got to brave and put her in inverted, I was trying to trim the grass... This flight was the first of the morning, did some nice low piro flips at the end!

Hey really great flying there. I love that more majestic 3D stuff you're doing than the smack-3D stuff that is fun but also a bit weird for me

Another first [re]build...
Originally, MSH41504 6S Stretch kit. Recently crashed and replaced YGE with HW 50A V3 (thinking of biting the bullet and buying another YGE... need to sleep on it). Jeti Duplex EX R3/RSW receiver.
One things not commonly encountered is Jeti MUI 75 EX (in retrospect, should've gone for MUI50, but well, there's this thing called learning curve...) #1 - Lynx Speed #06. Had #01 before, crashed, decided to go with something different out of stubborness, regret it now - #01 was more visible. #2 The receiver. Velcroed instead of sticky padded because in this position, connectors are not really accessible. I'm a bit concerned about antennas hanging just like that, but let's see what happens to them further - so far, it's been four flights since the rebuild with this particular receiver. #3 The Brain. It is possible to hide almost all the wires below the tailbox if you start routing them there one by one. #4 The ESC mounted on 4011 tape. I've tried to find out if 4011 is good enough to hold a hot ESC, but goofed up and bought the wrong tape, gave up and used 4011 anyway. Four flights later, it holds. #5 First sightings of the voltage, current and consumed capacity sensor - that big sheathed bundle. I know I shouldn't mix thick and thin wires, but since this is telemetry, I'm not terribly concerned. Tell me if I'm wrong. #6 This is where the sensor itself is - where YGE used to be. For this size frame and this size sensor, there's just no way to put it together in an elegant way. I actually had to modify it to make wiring more manageable. #7, #8 - that long 5.5mm bullet to XT60 adapter will have to go, had it in place for experiments in the bench, didn't make a shorter one yet. Images are clickable to full resolution. Criticism and suggestions are welcome. #1 #2 #3 #4 #5 #6 #7 #8

Flying with a bent something... not sure if it's a grip arm, or a feathering shaft, could be a mast too...

What pinions and headspeeds are you guys running? I was flying a 16t and governing to 3600. The last couple of times out flying I was only turning 3000 rpm and found I could perform all the same moves.
I went into Castle gov to turn my headspeeds down, and noticed that on a 14t pinion I should be able to hold 3200 with the governor. Is anyone running this small of a pinion, or just the 15t? |

I am running 13t lynx pinion but because of 1630kv motor. I find that with that low of a tooth count the belt slips sometimes. My hs are 2900 and 2500

Wow, high KV for our main gear. I think I remember DoubleCH and Willy running 14t at around these headspeeds.
I have the gov set for 2800/3000/3200 This should mean about a 15% increase in torque and less stress. Though at a higher throttle percentage. I'm curious too see if the in flight feel changes at all with the extra torque, and if the flight times change for the better or worse |

3300 is the sweetspot on this bird with 350 blades. If you fly agressive 3D (well not "power" agressive when compared to new goblin380 setups etc...). I ran it with 16 motorpulley and stock 6s.
