WTF OVER!!! What gives? This is freakin expensive muffler. Is anyone else running into this and how do you fix it?

it does hit slightly...try tightning the screws more towards the canopy...it will help a little...you have to remember, the muffler wasnt made for the helicopter, it was made for the engine

Huh? Mine clears the boom supports but it does not clear the canopy...have to trim quite a bit.

Think 1 or 2 of them metal engine gaskets Rick's helis has might cover it. When I say it doesn't clear, I mean it comes within the thickness of a piece of paper. Doesn't actually touch while on the ground.

I have at least 1/8" of clearance and am running an OS. Do you have a YS?

Kthane,

Grab a KSJ or similar boom support bridge. It pulls the boom supports together enough so that the SB16FH clears the boom supports. Uneven tightening of the muffler bolts is not really an ideal fix.

I've got about 1/8" clearance and there are no marks on either the muffler or boom supports so I guess they don't make contact in flight.

I use KSJ boom support bridges on mine to prevent the boom supports from going into the blades should one of the bolts securing them fail - this may explain the extra clearance.

Using YS91's, 8.45 g/r FWIW, though slight fore/aft differences in engine position due to shimming for different g/r's shouldn't really matter.

Hope this helps.
