Default 11x variants?

I'm considering an 11x, but every time I read about them I become more confused. I have pretty much all Spektrum stuff. Please correct me if I'm wrong here. This is what I think I have learned about these radios.

11x: Only one of the series to be DSMX compatible, and use model match on Spektrum. No Telemetry and no DMSS

XG11: Better programming & DMSS with telemetry, but not compatible with anything Spektrum

XG11MV. Module based XG11 allowing DSM2 module and Spektrum use. No model match or telemetry on Spektrum, but does model match & telemetry on DMSS

11x Zero: Pretty much same as XG11MV, but earlier release and not sold in the USA

All models: antennas are kind of fragile, and require a trip back to MFR to replace.

Is any or all of this correct?

XG11MV - with the JR 11 ch DSM2 module (specific to the 11X series) you get model match, however, it now appears that JR no longer sell this module !! - I had the 11X Zero with DSM2 module & it has all the features
of a non module system - model match, servo sync etc. Upgraded the 11X Zero to full XG11MV spec by JR Japan.

yes you got the point of these radios...

overall a great radio and a solid feature. I have two of them... Jr 11X ( I upgraded the software to the XG version so I get all the programing features except telemetry and DMSS) and the XG11 with DMSS system and telemetry.
the plan is to slowly phase all the flying stuff to DMSS as I don't use BNF stuff...

I thought about selling the 11X but lately decided to keep it since I have so many receivers and it still works flawlessly. I might keep it for my kids or just as a backup.

There comes a time in a man's life when you have to make decisions. I dumped everything Futaba and bought a JR XG14E. I kept the servos and was disappointed that the connectors don't fit even after you snip off the tab - but I fixed that.

The XG11 or XG14 is the way to go. Have you held each ? The XG14 has the best sticks ever made - so far. The XG14 has the same programming as the XG11. The only thing that the XG11 has is the big screen. You don't fly the screen.

If you have so much Spektrum stuff that you can never change, their marketing plan has worked.

Why don't you keep the transmitter that you currently fly the Spektrum stuff with AND buy a new XG14 ? I still have two decades of Futaba 1024 72 MHz stuff laying around.

I agree with fourstroker in all but one thing.
The big screen does matter...
sure you do not fly it but you do use it to program stuff... and most importantly... to track telemetry data. A buddy of mine has XG14 and yes the sticks are cool... but not that much better than XG11... the three additional channels.. are a plus but then again in my scale helicopter I do not use all 11 channels...

I just simply like the bigger screen and all the data that fits on it. Especially when I'm setting up stuff...

but as stated it is your choice

Can someone school me on the telemetry? Does the Spektrum TM8000 play with the regular 11x, or is telemetry only available on the DMSS protocol?

I never look at the telemetry screen while I am flying. I would rather have voice telemetry than the big screen. I had the big screen 9V, 9Z, 12Z. I don't miss it for programming. The XG11 is much bigger and heavier to hold.

You can download the manuals from www.jrpropo.co.jp/english/ . Hit the Downloads/Manuals buttons at the top.

It looks like the JR / Spektrum connection is toast unless you buy old stock or used. The 11MV with a DSM type module will not show telemetry.

the regular 11x does NOT have telemetry option. That is only available in the XG series.

I never had voice telemetry so I can not comment on that. The Jr 11 series beeps for timer, which is ebough for me.
as I saied it is a personal preference.

Never a problem with the antenna.

My 11X is from 2010. Recently returned for DSMX upgrade and yet another switch repair. Previously returned to Horizon for switch repair ... twice. A total of 3 toggle switches snapped or defective in 4 years, 2 years of which the 11X sat in its case - 1 somehow broke while in the case (in all fairness the unit moved 1,500 miles to AZ).

Love the sticks. Love the 11X. Quality of the switch hardware used in my particular unit ...
