Maybe I am Not giving the Part the right Name. The Two Geard tooth wheels the Pinion from the motor intermeshes with one while the other meshes with a Pinion that Spins the Pinion that runs the Belt drive. I know there are aftermarket wheels...Just was wanting to know who makes the Best.

my understanding is that trex gears will not work on the mx, for some reason or another i think they are a different size(ie tooth count).if you dont mind my asking why are you on such a mission to use different gears? my stockers have work fine thus far.

Well First of all I have Some "Play" on the top Gear. It moves up and down on the shaft. Now i do not know what is considerd a "Whole Bunch" but mine moves up and down about the thickness of a Dime. Wether thats wear or the previous owner did not put it together right i do not know. I have Also been told that the Stock Gears are out of round and that this is not good for the motor bearings. Now I am a Newbie but these things sound resonable to me and if i can save a motor for 17 dollars .......Maybe i am just going to fast or relying on only one answer, the more i think about it the more i come to think maybe i did jump too quick. I guess maybe i should have asked some more questions..It`s just sometimes you feel a little ...well you know Regards Mal |

mal,
right out of the box on my mx400 there was the same slop you are talking about. i havent yet found it to be a problem. True the main gear is also probably not perfectly round, but yet again i have not found this to be a concern, I am pretty sure finless even has a video on gear mesh set up somewhere in his "techroom". If worse comes to worse just find the tight spot in the mesh, put a piece of paper in between the gears, slide them together tight, but not so tight that you cant "easily" pull the paper strip out, tighten down the motor and have at it... |
