Can anyone confirm whether this is necessary?
I have been having trouble setting up the Beast x with my 500 (see my post Beast x on a 500). I worked out on Monday that these needed to be replaced so have them on order. They should arrive today, so i'll post back my findings!

All depends on your FBL unit, Align units need to be set as 3 servo 120 deg swash, VBar, BeastX has to be set as 1 servo swash in your TX.

Should there be any play at all in the main gear? I have the slightest bit of play with both washers on my 500esp. Is this normal or has anyone had to use two of the thickest washer?

Shouldn't have any play. I bought the 500 pro main shaft spacers and used both of them that came in the package and there's absolutely zero play.

I bought the same spacers and there is a little play. When I spool up my main gear and auto rotation gear I can see it wobbeling left to right.

the spacers won't have an effect on the main and auto gears wobbling

To make sure you have the spacers right grab the frame in one hand, the head block in the other and try to pull the head out/push it back into the frame. If you feel ,movement, you need more/thicker shims

Replaced the swash balls today, they are definately required when going FBL with a beast x. All set up, yet to test it in the air though.

Hey Deet,

Great opening post - all the details there.

I started the conversion last night on an ESP that I had already converted to standard FBL with an AR7200BX. First thing I noticed was that I will need a shim or two (which I had to order today) due to way too much up/down play with main shaft.

Also I didn't realise until I received the kit two days back that I needed to order the new blade grips, they arrived today, I notice that the new DFC arms needs to be screwed into the blade grips, but it didnt come with any screws. Do you know what size they are? Thanks

Interestingly I also bought the 450 DFC kit and it is complete, no need for the latest blade grips for it to work, its all in one. very neat.
Phil.

Assume you needed the longer swash balls. Where and why are they needed?

Its the short swash balls you need on the innerswashn and as there are only 2 links now its pretty obvious where they need to go

I now have to embarassingly admit that I think mine also came with the bolts.

I must have taken them out when I first opened it all up and inspected etc and misplaced the screws in my 500 helis screws collection, (read 100 plus screws) I finally found two sets of screws of different lengths that fitted perfectly. I figure that was them.

Must say the head look fantastic, appears the best mod to my heli since I went FBL with the AR7200BX.

Thanks.

Thanks Deet, idiot proof then!

If these are a must, is it not worth adding them to your parts list in the first post of this thread?

No because I already had an FBL head on the heli, and therefore had the short balls in place
