My Mikado vControl unboxing and observations!
So guys, my Mikado vControl came today from Mikado USA. I know everyone has been looking forward to seeing more pics of the transmitter, etc, so I figured I'd take some pics of the unboxing of my unit! I bought the vControl that comes with the silverline vbar, which is part number MIK04843. For now I really want to get these pics up for the world to see, but I'll be updating this original post as I have more things to add.
I'm not a professional photographer so take it easy on the quality of my pics lol Some observations: - The transmitter feels good in my hands. The rubber grips are nice and it has a nice feel to it. It is a lighter transmitter than I am used to holding but I'm not sure that matters. -The receiver is tiny, basically if you put two nickels next to each-other, that's the size of the receiver. - The throttle stick has an airplane style rachet to it. One of the first things I did was take the transmitter apart and remove the brass detent bar. I then tightened the collective adjustment until it slid the way I wanted. Super easy, and almost all using hex drivers! - When you open the tx to make the collective adjustments, make sure the label on the lipo main lead doesn't cover the charge port before you put the cover back on, just my luck, I had to take it apart again to move the label! - When loading vBar 6.0 software on my vBar, I first had to register the transmitter to my Mikado ID. Then I could load vBar 6.0 on my vbar. - Setup was a breeze, this transmitter while initially intimidating is VERY easy to figure out without the manual, well at least for me. - I noticed I wasn't getting full throws after I had tightened my collective slider, I needed to calibrate the endpoints of the radio. This is accomplished by going into Transmitter Setup, then Assign and Calibrate then choosing the stick movement I wanted to calibrate and moving the function to the extent of its throws. The vControl then automatically calibrated itself after leaving the stick at center, then holding at max throw in each direction for a few seconds. The box! The manual! There was a carboard manual tray on top of this, the plastic package was tucked inside that tray. All the contents of the box, excluding the transmitter! All of the contents of the box, excluding the packing material. The Mikado vControl! Close-up of the charger, neckstrap, USB cable, and awesome vControl keychain Everything unpacked... The back on the transmitter. The inside of the transmitter showing the Gens Ace B-1C-4000-1S1P 1 cell lipo pack. There's enough room to plug another one of these packs in parallel for additional runtime and weight, once they are available! There's two copper bars there to the right of the collective pot. The right most copper bar is the one you will remove if you want a smooth sliding collective. There's a hex bolt and 1 small phillips screw holding it in. I left screwed the phillips back into the transmitter for safe keeping. The hex bolt is kind of mounted to the copper bar. I then tightened the hex bolts that adjusted the collective tension. I think I went it about 6 full turns on each screw before I was happy with the tension.

Yessir! And you can put another one in there for twice the run-time and to add a little weight to the TX if you feel you need to.

So the VC radio feels lighter than your 14SG? How do the sticks compare to the 14SG?

Is that your bellybutton reflecting in the screen of the Vbar Control?
Sorry, I couldn't resist.

So does the Vbar Control feel lighter than a 14SG?
Does the Vbar control gimbals feel better than the 14SG sticks? Maybe you can't answer this, but does the Vbar Control feel heavier than a 8FG? Recently I tried a 8FG and I liked the 8FG gimbals compared to my JR 9303 sticks, but it just felt too light for my tastes. Thanks Mike |

I have had an 8FG and a 14SG. I would say that the vControl is lighter than the 14SG, can't completely remember but I'd like to say it feels more like the weight of an 8FG. I don't think the weight will bother me at all, but I haven't flown one yet. As far as the gimbals go, and this is from what I "remember" my 14SG gimbals feeling like, I think the vControl gimbals feel very similar to my 14SG gimbals. Hope that helps!

I figured something like that happened You are always very quick about responding.
This helps. Thanks for the info. It is very cool that you can add another 1cell lipo. |

One of Kyle's V-control has the extra battery capacity, and the other day he commented, "I think the last time I charged this radio was back in March, before the Vegas event."
I remember when our radios used 500mah 8 cell NiCds, and the power drain caused you to carry a spare battery just to get you through a days flying. Now, 8000mah with better tech...lasts forever. (-: Dave |

The cyclic stick glides very similarly to my DX18; I would not be able to tell the cyclic sticks apart with my eyes closed. The collective stick glides more smoothly on the VBar radio than the DX18.

My Mikado vControl unboxing and observations!

Thanks for the info buddy! So an 8FG is around 817 grams. So the vbar control radio is not much heavier. |
