WATCH BOTH CCPM VIDEOS

which way are the blades spinning? they should be spinning clockwise.

if they are not then swap any two leads from the ESC to the motor... this will reverse the direction of the motor.

if they are spinning the correct way then make sure the bolt going thru the drive gear and main shaft is in place.

is this a new heli?

Frank

it is a second hand Heli
The Prevoius owner did do a few Upgrades and a did a whole bunch more.
I put in a Align 430L and 40AMP ESC

a CCPM Upgrade Kit
401 Gyro
6 channel PCM RX

Extra Blades
Extra Align Gyro
crash Kit
Booms/Blades
Spindles Feathering shafts Tail Blades and on and on.

I have from www.helidirect.com a few other things like a Align Bolt kit(For all the screws that are in the frame) I hate "Star" Screws I would much rather have Allen bolts.

I am trying to make this heli as easy to work on as Possible and as Smoooth running as Possible. right now when i spool it up it does not sound very smooth. right now you always hear that "chtch chtch" sound
Right now i am about to send it back to the LHS to get it running right. I Have put wayy to much time...then Money into this to give up now...That just ain`t gonna happen this thing is not going to Beat me. But i am starting to get Pissed.

Any Ideas why this gearwheel disengages?

Regards
Mal

Mal,

which way are the main blades spinning?

it could be the one way bearing has failed (the bearing is between the upper and lower main gear.)

Check that the set screw that holds the pinion to the motor shaft is tight also.
It is possible for the pinion to slip even if the set screw is tight if this is happening you can ever so carefully use loctite or carefully grind a small flat in the motor shaft for the set screw to engage.

Mal,
if your blades rotate in the right direction, then I agree with frank and gizmo, one way is toast or pinion set screw isnt tight enough....

ok my blades spin Clockwise. I can see the Pinion and gearwheel Spinning they are Intermeashing. The First thing i thought was iether the motor setscrews came loose and the motor shifted so the Pinion was not intermeshing with the gearwheel So i Held the heli in my hand and spooled it up(I know NOT a safe thing at all) but when i did this it Answerd 3 questions Is it Motor? Is it Pinion or is it the bearing? Looks like it is Bearing...But why only once it gets to a certian speed? Looks like i am going to have to wait for my Helidirect order to come in before this thing goes much further Thats 7 to 10 days. How hard is it to replace this wheel? Can i keep the head see saw Mast All in place and go up from the bottom to replace this?

Regards
Malcom

you will need to disconnect the linkages to the swash plate or from the swash to the head to allow the mast to slide up far enough to disengage the gears, not a big deal just don't turn the rod ends while they are off. You may have to loosen the upper collar to get the holes to line up on the new gear set.

I had a brand new one way bearing that was bad .. it would grab and release seemingly at random but it only did this at higher RPMs.

made it look like the Rx was glitching the way the heli jumped up and down. I also found the answer by holding the heli and spinning it up ( i did have the main blades off though :-)

LOL Mal i hear ya..... trust me after getting into model helicopters i dont think there is enough money to pay me to fly in a real one.

lots of moving parts.... and if one goes bad the heli may as well be a rock falling out of the sky
