Default Maidened my "New" G5

Well, after a long hybernation time inside a box I finally maidened my G5.
Just 3 hovers outside my office. Could not go to the field because it was rainning.

YEP 45 esc
12T pinion
NTM 1700kv motor
3GX
Turnigy S-306G-HV (tail)
Savox SH-0257MG cyclic
Carbon blades

Tried 1300 45-90 Nano techs and 2 (in series) 1350 Eflite 3S that I had.
Very stable, with a fast cyclic reaction but will make a proper opinion when I get to the field.

I just converted mine to FBL with a zyx-s. scorpion 1630, 12T pinion and its a completely different bird, so i feel like i maidened mine this week to. 5:30 flights of everything i can throw it and it comes down cool to the touch at 3.8v/cell.

It may be old but i still love my G5's.

Congrats on the maiden. Pics?

I was checking the G5 forum to search for compatibility parts (preparing for the inevitable) with the TRex 450 and found this
https://www.helifreak.com/showthread.php?t=85953

What head did you use on your FBL conversion? I have the G5 FBL one.
Also I found that the new TRex 450Līs boom is a little longer than the G5 so It can be cut to measure.

It is rainning here, hoping for clear skies in the afternoon for a proper shakedown.

I use the factory conversion heads on both. One wasnt flying quite right so i just converted my FB'd one over. Much better. I think the other one is being relegated to parts airframe duty and its gear might find a home in a gaui x3.

Thats good news on the tailboom, G5 parts are getting hard to find out there.

Well, I had the chance to put 3 flights this afternoon.
The heli flies very well, it is very fast, not as fast as my Warp, but fast enough.
Need to tweak the 3GX a Little to get rid of some wandering on fast forward flight. Feels like kind of nose heavy.
The tail holds really well.
The canopy is very stiff and a pain to install.
So far so good......
