I'm leaving this heli as stock as poss, (Trex 600 ESP is main heli.) Will the GY401 with a 9650 work or do I need something a bit beefier. I've noticed the GY520 is now at a lower price in the UK.

The GY401 will be fine, but you really need a bigger tail servo if possible - the 9650 is usually used on the tail of 450 size helis. The Hyperion Atlas DS20GMD is a really nice affordable option

Whoops - sorry, corrected. I don't have personal experience of them, but the 9254 is often sold with the 401 as a bundle and is designed as a tail servo - fast (0.06 for 60 degrees) and strong, but only runs at 4.8V (Futaba recommendation) - but if it is that fast at 4.8V no problem - just put a voltage step-down in-line. It's not their latest servo, but people have been using them for ages with good success.

I use Fut S9254s on my 550 (originally with a 401, now with a Spartan DS760) and on my 425 (BeastX FBL controller).

They are fast and strong, tail holds very well. 550 runs 5v, 425 runs 6v with a step down.

Went with the DS520 in the end £33 from Fast lad. If it works ok on the Trex 500 then it should be ok on this model.

I run the Quark and Hyperion DS20GMD on my 550 and it hold rock solid. I tried the cheaper route and couldn't believe the difference the quark makes.

Well I got a GP780 with a Hyperion 20gmd or something, I only have about 6 flight on this and still dealing with a bit of tail wag , but it holds good
I may try to isolate it more with another layer of something...
