Default Question to Kontronik on H jive

Since K is closed till 7 th thought maybe can get answer from them here. Can helijive be used in conjunction with pyro 800? I know there is a new software version but it only says for big motors not that its a requirement for 14 pole motors. So are there any risks involved should I Try?

Version 13 and your good, I think more than a motor shut down can happen, but it is better to wait if not.

Official confirmation please I have difficulty believing the most expensive esc's can't run a 14 pole motor

Yes, the Helijive can run with motors such as the Pyro 800 but be careful with the power as it MAY be too much. If so it will simply shut down.

Thanks and happy new year

Thanks, so it will shutdown but not breakdown, thats all i wanted to know, same as any other strong motor. This is a relief as mikado screwed us with the combo yge logo 700 and pyro 14 pole motors but as soon kosmik back in stock it will be fitted!

I was running my helijive with a 4525 and getting regular peaks of around 210A. No problems at all
I am running the helijive V13 with the P800 and only getting peaks of 150A.

https://www.helifreak.com/showpost.p...7&postcount=62

That said I am now putting on a Kosmik!

High peaks I know not a problem myself on yy handwinds peaks of 250 and continious close to 200 its an awesome esc. Concern I had was about compatibility with the 14 poles on new pyro with non v13 units.

Just refering to the comment from Kontronik. I was trying to highlight that the power/current peaks from the P800 are less than the 4525, and there were no warnings about......... (for example running a 4525)
I see this was not clear from my response, before.

I have a brand new Kontronik HeliJive V12 that I received from ReadyHeli via Kontronik as a replacement for a V11 that shutdown running on a Goblin 700 with a Scorpion 4525-520kV motor. While waiting on the return for the HeliJive I installed a normal Jive 120HV using Kontronik mode 4 governor (working great) since I have experienced two separate shutdowns using the VBar governor.

Now I was hoping on using this new HeliJive, temporarily on a 770 Goblin with a Pyro 800-480 motor since I just found out the YGE 160 won't work with a 14P motor, but the specs on the HeliJive show Max RPM with 2-pole-motor: ...to be defined...

Here's what I had translated from Kontronik's website regarding V13 (no English translations).

From now all JIVE variants with the software version V13 delivered. A modified Anlauf-Algorithmus now also enables the start-up of the most large external rotor motor. Should you have problems with your JIVE you can send him to the software update. This is during the warranty period free of charge (please include proof of purchase) then cost of an update 10€ plus shipping costs.

From the translation, it now seems I can't use a V12 running 12S either for this motor safely.

Is it worth sending back to get a version 13 upgrade or should I look at investing yet again on another ESC?

It would also be nice if Kontronik updated their specs on their motors on their website and docs. Their 800 Pyro manual doesn't even state basic motor specs such as pole count etc. still fails to include the 800 model numbers.

Luis

Kontronik spec is not defined!

"Max RPM with 2-pole motor: ...to be defined".

So if you are running a 14 pole motor you need to know this info....

Kontronik have been building 14 pole motors for ages kora etc so try it, sure it will work but perhaps startup problem then need update. according to their bulletin different algorythm for startup, nothing on rpm limitation.

Sure as they say if you have starting problems, have you checked your motor if its not the mags that came loose?
