Yey!!! I've been waiting for this version and now it's finally here. Love the interface on these duos. However, at only 800W per channel it barely covers doing six 6S 5000mah at 1C (756W). If its efficiency is %90, it'll need 840W to charge at 30A. Anyone know of a vid that shows it working under these conditions? If not, I'll probably go with the 4010 instead.

I think you're math is a little off. At 90% efficiency (720w) you could charge a 6s 5000 pack at 28 amps which is just under 6c.

He said he has 6 of them.

Grok, I have assumed that the watts, like amps, are output specs. And that efficiency losses have already been accounted for. You will need to supply more than 800W, but you will get 800W out, is my assumption.

You could combine the 2 channels for 50A/1300W. But if you are charging stuff that big, the 4010 may justify the extra money.

RedOctobyr, it may well be that the 800 is after efficiency. Oh well... It's only money, maybe I should go ahead and get it, post a vid showing whether it can or can't do it, sell if it can't.

I looked at the manual for my 106B+. It has a graph of output watts vs input voltage, based on the 21A input current limit.

It's a 10A/250W charger, and it lists the full 250W output, once the input voltage reaches somewhere around 13.7V. At the 21A current limit, 13.7V is 290W input, to get the 250W output. They do also list a 90% efficiency number.

That would seem to provide an example of an iCharger that's quoting output specs, not input.

Relative to the PL8, if charging 6S, this seems like kind of a good deal, based on specs. 2 channels, and a max of 50A/1300W, for $30 more than the single-channel 40A/1344W (or 1000W, if doing 6S) PL8. More output, and more flexibility. I realize that you have to compare more than just specs, admittedly. And I really hope FMA is working on a dual-channel that's smaller/cheaper than the Dual PL8.

Damn. Just got my new 4010. The little I have been able to play with it, it is great. Powering mine with a SolidHobby 24V PS. It'll do what I need with that setup. Besides, I only have a 110V 20 A circuit in the shop.

Ordered one last night since the balance board went dead on my 306b this weekend . I guess I'll be a guinea pig and see how it compares with my friends 4010.

Has it arrived yet? I'm curious to see what people think. Haven't seen any first-hand-use impressions yet.

I can't understand why it comes with 6s balance boards. (there's a guy on the otheRR board who has one)

The balance board is extra. All you need to do is get some squid cables.

So, you're saying this 8s charger ships with 6s balance boards and that you have to pay extra to get 8s boards??

The charger ships with nothing. You buy any board or squid parallel solution you want.

That's not what the guy on the otheRR board said. Maybe ProgressiveRC is throwing a few extra goodies in the box.

It comes with 2 6S balance boards... One for each channel.
I guess you just plug an 8S pack directly into the charger... Don't know about a 7S though.

This is as goofy as those PL8 combos that came with only 6s balance boards. At least when I get mine I will already have the gear for my 7s packs.

I was interested in it because someday, I want to build a 14s 700. But, I have absolutely no idea why this 8s charger comes with 6s balance boards.

So realistically how long would 4 6s 5000 take on this charger provided you have a good enough power supply. (i will be running a 27v 1500w meanwell or 24v 1800 server ps haven't decided if the meanwell is worth the extra $$ yet)
