Default My opinion of the warp 360

OK guys. You know I don't hold back punches when It comes to my opinions

I bought the warp 360 last year and complained a lot about certain parts and the choices of material.

Namely the cf tail plated and plastic tail arm holder.

People were epoxying the bearings in and doing all sorts of things to improve it. I said screw that as I was not nearly as successful.

Well compass sent me some metal plates and metal arm holder and I put them on late last year.

I have recently been flying the warp again and am extremely impressed by this bird.

I have logged 10 packs a day on this for past 4 weeks now. I have missed a few days. So over 200 flights. These are as hard kicking flights that I can dish out.

There is absolutely no sign of any wear in the head or tails. I removed the tail bearings and main shift bearings and everything is great.

The belt is perfect still.

I have never crashed it during this time so there has not been any undue stresses on it from that.

I am giving this 450 class bird a solid A+

The piroetting cog is fantastic.

Thank you compass for such a great bird.

Now go get one!!!

Yup, although there were a few early teething issues, just an overall great little heli.

I was a little worried about selling my 450x off for this heli but not any more. Quiet as a mouse with great flight characteristics.

Really this thing flies nearly as good as my 600-700 class helis.

If only the design were up sized to a 500 class to update the atom 500!

I thought I was the only one using a rubber band.

Yes, the Warp has been great for me. Still on the stock CF tail plates. Great bird....flew 6 packs, all back-to-back the other day. I must be around 500 flights and a few crashes on this bird.

Aren't you glad you gave it a chance? I was fortunate to get mine built UR3 off the bat so I got to skip some of the Warp's early growing pains.

While it does not have the same agility as my X3, there is nothing I am able to do based on my current skills on my X3 that I can't do on my Warp, and in fact the Warp's stability and precision allows me to do more. That may change as my skills improve, but this will be the heli that takes me there. It is funny as my plan was to use my X3 as my live testing ground for new tricks and the Warp was to get my experienced hands, but it's now the other way around.

The gang at the field kept telling me that I need a 700 to be able to make the next step in my 3D skills, and while this is still likely to be true, they quickly changed their tune after I let our resident pro give it a go. They aren't bugging me anymore and are in awe at my progress. I owe it all to the Warp! I love this bird!

P.S. I love the rubber bands! Improvising is what makes this a great hobby!

I agree with those above-the Warp is a great little machine!

I liked mine so much that I am about finished assembling/overhauling Warp #2. I am the third owner of this first generation machine which arrived at my doorstep with some crash damage and some some of the issues that I have read about with the first generation kits. Regardless, it flew quite well in the hands of its previous owners (both friends of mine).

It has also been upgraded to JR servos. It will fly with a Robird FBL unit and JR XG14.

My second generation machine had none of the issues of the first generation kits, so it is good that the manufacturer corrected things.

Both Warps have been upgraded to the current version (metal tail side plates, 19 tooth tail pulley, thicker tail boom, etc.).

Excellent little machines!

Dude. If you can pull off all the moves on the warp., the 700 will be a piece of cake.

Totally agree, it' a terrific flier, silent and smooth as a heli can be.
Mine is v1, and didn't even put the upgrade bits beside the motor can, it'all good. Also running hawk tail case, may even revert to stock and try the metal side plates.
I also love it because it demolishes some some preestablished ideas in the heli comunity:
-a rigid head is only good for high rpm
-non driven tail is no good for autos

Enjoy your warps, it's very neat heli

Exactly. After those 6 back-to-back flights, even my 500 seemed like it was moving in slow motion.....LOL!!! I can only imagine what flying a 700 would be like right after the Warp.

LOL EASY-TO-REPAIR?! I guess so because they are made of 200% Real Carbon!
They are only 100% brand new though

I've got a whole new attitude and may re-engage this beast.

Now that I've had a chance to settle down I have come to believe that had I started with a Pantera, or a Forza or even an XRay T4 I would have known enough about belt tension to have not sabotaged the Warp.

The Warp version 1.2 was simply not a good choice for someone working in isolation that's never built a belt driven tail before. Between the stock parts and manual the belt winds up tight enough to strum like a banjo which leads to trashed bearings and multiple crashes on spool up.

I'm no longer new and neither is the Warp. I'm guessing a new Warp with a non-noob or a noob with a mature Warp would have turned out differently.

Long summer coming up - time to re-evaluate.

...though I do still think it's confusing to call it a "450" - granted Compass doesn't do that but "we" do and back when I bought it I thought a 360 would be smaller than a 450 rather than larger than a 325.

New hobby - nomenclature growing pains - nothing to be done.

For everyone that offered to dig me out of my hole a year ago - I may be back in 30 days. - I've kinda missed ya.

Another 50 or so flights on the X4II and I'll be ready to re-engage the demon. Time for a fresh re-evaluation and thanks for the thread.

The new wave of oversized 450 class are all fantastic machines in their own way, and the Warp lead this change. I love that it does not fly like a typical 450 and that it pushed the edge of 450 design. Sure it wasn't perfect, and the updates don't necessarily make it so now, but it allows those of us who can't afford a big machine, or or have limitations preventing from flying a large bird, get a glimpse of what a large heli feels like.

I was fortunate to have no issues from the start and my newness to the hobby probably contributes to my bliss of ignorance, but having 2 helis in this class (being very happy with both), I have to say there is a heli to suit every style of flying and enthusiast, and the Warp does exactly that for me.

Happy flying everyone.

I use to say the Warp is a small jewel. It has tons of power, flies like magic, is super quiet and endures crashes like a tank.

Wherever I take mine, it doesn't stay unnoticed. Many times due to the unusual design, but most times because of its flight performance. Looks like some people get really surprised by such a small heli flying like this.
