Scorpion 130A Opto - Burned!
Hi,
I just want to share what happened today to my Scorpion 130A Opto. I was about a minute into the flight, I was doing 4 tik toks and went to a hover and all of a sudden a loss of power and smoke coming out of the canopy. I was able to save the bird doing auto and the Optipower ultra-guard backup which supplies the power. I am going to contact Scorpion in Hong Kong and see what they say about it. I switched from CC 120HV to this ESC because I heard good things about it and how it runs more efficient than CC. The only thing I did was when connecting the motor to the ESC, the motor was reversed so I switched the wires so the motor will run in the opposite directions and I did not connect the Anti-Spark all other settings was stock. I'm using the Scorpion 4525-520 LE on 2 x 4000mah 6S, Gryphon BEC. And now for the pictures. Last edited by Bob O; 09-16-2014 at 08:08 PM.. Reason: resize pics |

Sorry you didn't get more flights in today... wondering if the 100* weather would have been a factor. Then again, I was flying my 550 pretty hard and didn't notice anything out of the ordinary other than the packs getting slightly puffy.
Good thing you had the backup guard to auto it down in one piece.

Sorry to see your esc.
You mention you did switch wire to make it turns other direction. Could it be your plugs came lose, and made a short? |

The wire connection to the motor if indeed cause a short, there should have been signs of spark or burned marks. But there is nothing. |

Goes to show anything can fail... I switched to CC after two bad Scorpions.
