yup.... 550/600 is my next size to buy in the next 6 months. I want to like whatever 450 is coming, but honestly, I have to be convinced that it will beat the socks off my 450 Pro with same components installed. If Corrado decided today to design a 550 it would not be available until 1-2 years from now.

You know... i flew a 450 for about ayear before I ever flew anything else. I understand the challenge of flying a small rocket thats strapped onto a rocket. Its not for everyone thats for sure. Some people are quicker than others and they can fly anything. Others get used to the larger stuff and get spoiled with how easy it is to fly(me, myself and I). Every so often though...... I have to remind myself that I am a really fast pilot and that ive gotten lazy. Thats when I pull out the small guns and rock em for about 2-3 weeks.
The little ones are the scarry stuff! When Im done I eventually go back to my bigger stuff and it feels like Im flying some elephants. Almost like I cant make a mistake.(oh if that were only true)
The smaller classes can teach me more than I know sometimes. What I really gotta watch for is that feeling that I now "know it all" when it comes to flying helis.
Cause when I know it all........... how the F#$% can I continue to learn anything!
Well, thats just my experience and when the 450 comes out, I hope I put my money where my mout is and get a ROCKET! Whooah? Whooah!.......... Peace!

what i dont understand is why he wont make a bigger heli because he dosent like the power systems.i paint cars for a living and if i only painted cars in the colors i like i wouldnt make much off that, you have to give people what they want.its also kinda dissapointing to see this company think so far outside the box with their first offering and than jump on the 450 bandwagon,we already have tons of these to choose from,550s are a new market waiting to be opened up.

aLRIGHT ILL SAY IT........................550's are not gonna last.Dont take it as gospel, just a prediction. Ive spent my life analyzing trends and around business of one sort or another. Eletronics being the mainstay.
Like I said, just a prediction. Alot of reasons I wont beat a bush for but untill the lipo and electronics market matures, IF it does, we'll be paying the consequences from our pocket books.
The 550 size as we know it will definately evolve and change before our eyes. Itll still say 550, but it wont be what we started out with.
Just a prediction. Hope im wrong......I could profit from a 550 boom !

Snap ...

I bought my protos based on parts support also.

I found ken at www.rcflightstore.com to have a good stock of parts.
He also does a good job on keeping up with stock levels. He does quite well with it unless there's a complete drought of parts. I found he had the new 450 pro parts about 1-2 weeks after readyheli had them.
Not the first but an honorable mention. I use readyheli as a reference also.

Mikado and protos stocked

As i stated before we strongly believe that current battery thecnology is still a bit on the weak side for a heli bigger than 500. I am not saying that battery do not deliver performance just that don't last for many cycles and with today's battery cost it is not main stream yet.

That said we decided to make a 450 before a bigger one to see if battery durability on large helis catch up in the mean time.

I am not saying that this is an absolute truth but just what drives our decisions.

Corrado

p.s. beside that i needed a little protos to fly indoor

We will not release boom and belt for a 500 conversion as we feel heli parts might represent an hazard because of their design been made for way smaller blades.

aside from maybe metal grips, there isnt anything in that head that 500s would stress too much, the gaui 550 uses the same size spindle and main shaft and swings 550s

You guys will be waiting a long time for a big model from MSH. Another 450,,,, BOOOOOOO! I would like to see MSH make a 550 or maybe a 50 sized heli, but that will be a long time coming.

Have you heard of a place called hobbycity.com? $35 for battery pack that makes the current Protos rock. Surely a 550 wouldn't need more than a $70-80 pack.
