Default Novus. 4G3 problem

Good Day,

I rencently had a big crash, it broke the feather shaft and a blade grip. so i replaced these parts and now have the metal upgrade head. After this it appeared that at fullpower the motorwould slow down, almsot like I have too much pitch set, i put the transmitter settings back to factory, it does the same thing, i replaced the motor and no effect, the batteries work fine in my 4#3B. any suggestions? I'm thinking about putting the plastic head back I have read on here its better then the metal one

Hmm, this could be difficult to troubleshoot. I am one of those who believe that the plastic head blocks are better than the CNC ones. The CNC ones bend too easily in a crash. But swapping the CNC head for the plastic one wouldn't account for your symptoms.

Perhaps your main shaft is bent (although it would likely wobble a lot).

The other question is whether he has the brushless motor. Mine is a Novus CP which came with that crappy brushed motor. After I got the brushless upgrade, the difference was night and day.

its a new main shaft

maybe 40 flights on the ESC?

if I hold it in my hand and add some left stick it seems to respond normally untili get about 80% full then it slows down.

this might be a better discription of what the problem is. it almost seems like the pitch is set to high and is loading up the motor, but the adjustment is turned almost all the way in.

Which transmitter are you using? Were you careful to ensure that there was a bit of "lash" between the motor pinion gear and the main gear?

Is there enough power to lift off the ground?

I set the pitch range on my 4G3 depending on how the tail holds when I fly it.

To get 0 degrees at mid-stick and to ensure equal positive and negative pitch, I hold it in my hand, power up, switch into idle up, and ensure the blades go at their fastest speed when the collective is at mid-stick. Adjust linkages if they do not. Then I apply full positive then full negative pitch, and again going by the sound of the blades, check they slow down equally at either ends of the collective. It's not exactly the Finless way, but it works well enough for setting up a 4G3
