Plug the lipo into the ESC. The plug into the 4in1 was for the brushed motor.

ok thank you. although it works either way. does the esc having the battery give better energy transfer to the motor?

Yes. The wires connecting the esc to the 4 in 1 aren't substantial enough to power the esc and motor reliably, although as you say it does work, for a while anyway.

Yeh, it's interesting that no sites have a listing for that part and it is not even listed in the owners manual for the Novus CP. I recently bought a new tail motor mount for my CP (because the bearings were worn out and it was cheaper than buying a set of replacement bearings) and that carbon fiber rod is not included with it.

Even if they did sell a replacement, it would probably cost too much for what it is. Most hobby stores sell carbon fiber rods in various dimensions, so I would pick up a short length of 1mm rod and cut my own. Or, you could snip off a bit of wire (say, from a wasted flybar) and CA glue that in place.

the part on the tail you are referring to is called the tail shaft(dont know why) and tower hobbies has it. They call the actual tail shaft the "tail gear assembly". If you look at the pic on the site I am pretty sure this is it. There isn't a part number for it though. If you are planning to upgrade to the brushless setup then I would get the BL tail system too. It comes with a pretty cool looking tail fin as well. They have almost all the replacement parts and upgrades on tower's site and most are in stock.
