Default Chronos Stretch

I decided to see what the Chronos would be like if it was bigger.

Currently running 780mm Align blades.

It is wicked

Logo 800 Extreme boom - cut slightly shorter.
Logo 800 tail rod - cut to size.
SAB 770 tail belt.
Align 780mm blades.

I'm currently running 12S, but will be converting to 14S.

No issues with CG - i just put the battery pin on the front hole.

50mm.

I would prefer a wider tail belt as the SAB is narrower than the Compass belt.

It's awesome in the air.

Kollech1.

The sab belt is 6mm and Compass is 8mm. I'll see how it goes.

I'm running 1450 on ST1 and 1900 in ST2.

What do you think the maximum size blade combination that can be run using the Goblin 770 belt?

780mm. If a longer tail belt was available to cater for the full 900mm boom then i would think an 800mm blade would work.

I'm also thinkig about an stretch of my 7HV, but would use 760 Rotortech-blades instead of the 780er Aligns. Is there another belt available for the Chronos? Only found 6mm HTD 3M Belts. Compass is 8mm. How about the Protos Max Belt? Heard somewhere that this will also fit. Could anyone tell me the relal lenth of these belts:
  • Original Chronos belt: HTD 2040 3M
  • 770 Goblin belt: HTD 2160 3M
  • Protos Belt 700/770 belt: ???

Chris

Got reply to my belt-question on a german forum, here the results:

Helicopter Type
Compass belt HTD 2040 3M
Goblin 770 belt HTD 2160 3M
Protos 700 belt 2208-3KC-6
Protos 770 belt 2328-3KC-6

Made a quick excel-calculation, and with the protos-700 belt, maybe also 800 Blades are possible (with the same tail-blades).

I just reverted back to 700mm blades. The main gear drivetrain doesn't seem to handle swinging the big blades. Especially in hard manoeuvres.
I ended up stripping 3 main gears 😣
I was running a 12 tooth pinion. Not sure if a bigger pinion would make a difference and also a lower kV motor.

It was super fun though. 😃

What headspeed did you fly on the 780's? I'd like to go for around 1000 to 1600 with 760mm Rotortechs.

You can usually source compatible belts from other sources. I bought a 1863-3M-06 HTD timing belt (off an ebay merchant) to stretch my 6HVU and it works perfectly. Although it seems 6mm and 9mm are common sizes, whereas the Chronos uses 8mm stock... but I think belts are often cut to order, so you may be able to get 8mm if you ask.
