The CopterX shafts are a bit soft but they're otherwise fine -- and much better than the BCP ones! So go ahead and use it, and just replace it when you hit something and it noodles.

They are the same length but apparently the tooth count (TPI) is slightly off. So you'll find yourself wearing down your stock OEM BCP front pulley a lot, until you replace it with a CopterX / Align part.

Easiest thing to do is to get a swash with an AR bracket hole in the rear, like this:

http://www.helidirect.com/hdx450se-c...05-p-10158.hdx

Then you don't have to move your AR bracket at all. Only problem is that it costs $19.

Lightbulb

the AR bracket, what i did is put it as far in the top corner as possible, with about 2 mm from each edge. i made the screw holes by pulling one of the head swash guide bars out of the original belt cp head, it pulled right out, then heated one end of the bar till red w/lighter, holding it with needle nose, and used it to make my starter holes for the AR bracket. worked like a charm, it melted easily through the belt plastic frame. no mess either..you could even use a needle, just keep it straight.

i just got my scorpion -8 V2 motor & 45A remote ESC in to day, man that is a sweet set up... i cant wait to get it programed and into the air...good luck on your up grades.

oh yea, if you find your not getting enough pitch range with the copX main shaft, the belt cp main is 2mm longer (hole distance), all you have to do is grind the head end down 3mm (shorten the shaft) so it doesnt interfere w/the flybar, but you gain 2mm in pitch room... thats what i did and i get +/- 11.5 pitch range...

good luck
-mark

picasso, karen,

thanks guys for your help and tips!!! well i dont know about pitch but got my link length done and swash, washout level and at idle up full positive and full negative it does not hit anywhere that i can see left, right, forward and back. picasso did you have to file the ar pin at all for the link to clear??

yep, i had to bow the inside of the bottom with a small round grinding cylinder (dremel = lifesaver) and then set it tilting slightly forward.. just becareful it weakens the bottom bar so when installing use needle nose to hold the square ends of the ar when screwing into the frame so the ends done twist off...you'll see what i mean... but once it is in there is no stress on it, its just a guide..

chrscoop- well i can say being as i am just finishing up that both will work its just a matter of the work you want to do. Myself i just flipped the copterx main and used it but is shorter so you will have to do link adjusting on the swash. the esk ones works but needs trimmed so not to hit fly bar. i used the esky belt as karen said that the teeth per inch is diff from esky and would probaly wear the gear. the esky belt seemed to mesh good with the copterx tail for me.

as far as just the shaft gose my personal opinion is go with the copterx as the esky tend to suck! Soft and not straight even from factory(my experiance)

You might as well use your CopterX shaft since you'll be buying them (or Align) as replacements and it makes sense to set your head up once with the Copter X + shaft and forget about it. If you switch back to the BCP shaft, you may have to reset your head settings.

Re: belt. You might as well use up your stock esky one if your front pulley is esky. I find that the slight diff in TPI between the two eats up the plastic front pulleys if you use the copter X belt. Once you've destroyed your front pulley, replace with an align compatible metal one (such as the one below) and then use the copter x belt. Note that you can't use the Align front tail gear + pulley setup as the BCP has a different tail gear ratio; so you need to take the pulley below and attach it to the BCP tail gear shaft using the grub screws provided.

Yup, that's why I chose them. They're great!

Karen

p.s. the one on the left in the photo above is for the front pulley, the one on the right is for your tail pulley, but it might not fit in your tail cage.

does the trex tail boom fit on belt without modding.

Belt Cp: DTS mod, copterx head and tail, esky 0704b hh gyro, align 325 fiber blades, sg90 tail servo, trex fiber glass canopy.
