Angry Sick of canopy pins breaking off!!!

Ok, so I've replaced too many frames due to these fragile canopy pins breaking off after crashes. What's the best after market frame option for the MCPX? I don't want to upgrade anything else, I just want a frame with stronger pins.

Any ideas?

Let me do some digging to find the thread.

On a stock mcpx frame there is a mod where you cut the pins with a knife half way back then reattach the two pieces using heat shrink tubing which allows them to flex in a crash . I did this mod a while ago and have had no busted pins since.

Haha found it :-) This is what I did and it's worked great

So found this which is a strengthening kit.

An alternative is to beef up the canopy pins using a hot glue gun. Add some hot glue at the base of each pin. Worked very well for me.

Thanks so much!! I will give that a try. So - should I do 1 layer of heat shrink or 2? I've seen both... I'm wondering if 2 will be too stiff and cause them to break near the frame still...

At this point, I'm willing to try anything.. this is my practice heli, and it gets the most flight time as I'm just starting to learn some basic 3D moves. But these breaking pins are driving me insane...

BTW - I've never seen a more helpful forum than this one. I get immediate, solid answers to resolve just about any issue I have.. I love Helifreak!!

Thanks for this suggestion as well. Something else I can try, and seems to be even a little easier than the other mod.

UPDATE: I used the heat shrink pins mod with a new frame. I flew about 7 flights with it which included multiple crashes - and zero (0) broken canopy pins thus far!

You guys rock!!
