Default Want Louder Blades!

Sounds dumb i know.but i live for the sound of the blades ripping through the air. Anyone have any tips or info? What brands are noisier or louder and high headspeed vs low head speed.

Louder blades are simply wasted energy. Don't be fooled. You want smoooooth quiet blades - they will track better and provide the best performance.

I believe Edge blades are quite loud but still very good compared to other brands. So are the Maverick G5 Pro Widecord blades.

I believe if you look for any "wide cord" blade that does not have an airfoil tip they will be pretty loud.

Aren't longer blades generally louder. You could try 550 or even 570 mains if you can find them.

I like blade noise, wop wop wop in the turns as well.

But wish I could find a main motor that was designed to wine more like a turbine!
There must be a way to incorporate a whistle or siren tuned just right into the out-runner
during manufacturing so the helicopter had a nicer wine to it

I think soft blades are louder because they flex more and turbulence builds up making them flap even more.

Turn your headspeed up and fly harder because blades on their own wont do it.

Default Want Louder Blades!

Stick a baseball card next to the main gear like we did on our bikes as kids, I think that will do it

I just got the Mavrikk blades and was told by LHS that they may indeed be louder, especially on rainbows. We shall see, haven't tried 'em out yet.

Dampening decreases the sound, so Align DFC heads with solid plastic (or POM?) dampers make the blades louder

Note: I'm not saying this is better

I have flown a bunch of 550 blades. Loudest I have tried are the older Rotortech 550s (carbon and yellow). Although they are the loudest, they are my least favorite blade for 3d flying. Great for cruising and fly very straight/smooth, but loud and bog a lot when pushed in 3d flying.

Get some cheapos from Hobbyking, they are loud as hell, seriously.

Only drawback is they feel like driving a semi over pot-holes.

On Castle ESC's set the motor start power to low, it does provide a really slow (scale / turbine-like) spool. And somewhat of the whine you're looking for.

Cyclones are dead quiet (hence why they are efficient)
