This is Dr. Dremels mCPx paper canopy template. I shrunk it to 80%, but regrettably I cannot use it for other than shelf queening on the Nano. The lower pins cannot reach the canopy (too short). And when you put the canopy well into the upper ones, the servo links rub the canopy. Looks cool though!

I did hidden grommets. See blog post for idea.

http://www.hacksmods.com/2012/09/nano-cp-x-mtdr-canopy/

Piece of scrap plastic from packaging. Make a hole and put the grommet in. Then put the velcro piece.

The velcro strips that comes with the EFlite 150mAh batteries are perfect. Thin, low profile and lightweight.

Otherwise, it should be easy to extend the pins.

Yeah, I've seen this on you blog, great idea

But it would still not be perfect, ideally you want the rear to sweep in together. If you do that the links cannot clear. So I guess we'd need a design specifically for the Nano. After all the stock canopy is more "ball shaped" vs. the oval one for the mCPx

Instead I ordered those V911 canopys you recommended in your blog!

This is really neat!

Sorry to hear that itīs not fitting correctly, but maybe itīs because itīs just a scaled down version of the mcpx template? I made a msrx template a while back which I adapted a little further than resizing:

https://www.helifreak.com/showpost.p...&postcount=473

So perhaps you have better luck with this one. As I have no Nano I canīt test it myself.

Regards
Dremel

Thx! Very happy for a 1st attempt

No Nano!!!??? >> get one! Having so much more 3D progress with this one vs. the mCPx!

Thx, I might try that mSRx template!

Nice skids btw, self made?

Oh, and it seemed like the colours got a little paler when I sized down the mCPx template - is that normal? (since it's not a vectorized graphic)

I did it like this:
-clear package tape on both sides
-used bits of the same tape for assembly
-Shoe Goo on the inside to seal the "seams"
-clear auto paint on the outside

Some slow curing but stable stuff for mounting the pieces would have been awesome... (no tabs)

Well the Nano - time will tell if this sweet little bird fits into my fleet. I recently purchased a second mcpx and a Protos 500, so I have "binders full of helicopters" already

The skids for the mcpx/msrx in the above link are indeed self-made.

https://www.helifreak.com/showpost.p...90&postcount=9

The pale colour of canopy prints is almost certainly related to printer settings. Colour does not fade just because of resizing. Maybe wrong paper or too low quality selected?

Happy flying

Dunno, but the full size ones came out a bit darker. Done on a laser printer, std. paper. Nevermind, still looks good

I think with your skills you should do a Goblin paper canopy... and McLaren of course
The skids... genious!!!

I always wondered if Blade would start doing more colors that are not the norm so much -- soon. Greens, oranges etc... I mean make 3 for each heli - I know it's expensive maybe but still.

Tot his day on release if you look the 300x had the best choices from stock for canopy's.

Here is my first nano though - I posted this when it first came out somewhere

Default Custom tail rotor to match body and aid visibility

Stock Nano with yellow tail rotor with black bands painted on.

To match body color and to aid in visibility -- the yellow tips make a nice yellow circle when it spins.

Got my "nanner" yesterday for screwing around at work. It was used and needed a canopy so I fitted a Genius cp canopy and yellow kbdd mcpx skids. I cut a section out of the top "rails" to make it fit a little better and then re-attached them with heat-shrink. They fit great and really hug the battery now. Tried to set 0 pitch at mid stick which is hard to do on this little guy for some reason. I still have a tiny bit of + pitch at mid stick. Guess I'll have to resort to sub-trims. I also had a bad left drift even with the swash tilted to the right. Had to use sub-trim to fix that as well.

The white on the skids helps with visibility, though it does tend to flake off, lol.
