It looks to me that the AR pin is reversable,in that case wouldn't one only have to move the AR pin to the back and fit a ball in the front. Or use the Esky CNC swash (which I already have) I guess it comes down to asthetics in that case.
I am trying to decide which is the best way to go for the head upgrade and I have narrowed it down to the copter x and the one listed above. The price is not that much of a consideration because I believe in the "you get what you pay for' addage. and I have been down that road before, but I like to keep things reasonale.Quality is my main goal.
Any input on this is appreciated.
Thanks,Jim

well i got the copterx head and tail and i love it...makes a huge difference in helis performance......i used the copterx swash by moving the AR pin to the front, its really easy to do, i heated up a pin, poked a couple of holes in front of the swashplate and just moved the pin there, once it was tight the pin wont move at all.

Glad you like it. So much better than the Esky metal head.

Those main blade grips are sexy they are like the trex 500 ones. I might buy them for my EXI one day

Yes I am hoping it turns out to be sexxxxy. I have done the DTS mod already but was thinking of building an entire top frame that would hold all the servos in the proper position. I would have to cut the entire top of the frame off and buid in some attaching points. Just an Idea I was kicking around. On another note, I am using a Blade 400 main shaft that I have modified by shortening and redrilling the cross hole. They are not solid but heavy wall tubing. In the metal industry there has always been a question which is stronger tube or solid and in my experience I have found that tube is a bit stronger to a certain point.I just realized I should start a new thread about this, Stay tuned .

Default Build report.

First of all I would like to thank all the people on this forum for sharing all there great Ideas and lessons learned so that others like myself can do the mods without making too many expensive mistakes. You guy's are definately GREAT.

My first step was doing the DTS mod but I did leave the elevator servo and linkage in place for now.I also still need to fab a couple reinforcing braces where I removed the frame material for the mod. Here are some pics of that phase.

Here is the list of parts that I used for this project.

1 (hot) sonix 3dx hdx factory new 450 SX head and tail combo @ $109.99 = $109.99
1 CNC 450 SX head tail combo parts 4mm feather shaft 3pc @ $4.50 = $4.50
1 CNC 450 SX head tail combo parts CNC tail shaft and gear sx450-G07 @ $2.50 = $2.50
1 trex 3dx 450 fly bar plus new paddle @ $6.99 = $6.99
1 Front/Tail Pulley Set with driver - for 3DX450 SE @ $7.50 = $7.50
1 new root thickness 2.75mm trex 3dx 450 tail blades --for new cnc pro tail blade grips @ $3.99 = $3.99
1 rc trex 3DX 400 450 x/xl se li-poly sonix 15c 2200MAH 11.1V new battery @ $34.00 = $34.00
1 Top quality 325mm carbon fiber main blades for trex 3dx hdx 450 all size rc helicopter @ $15.99 = $15.99
1 trex 3dx450 ( B heli/Fheli) trex 450 belt 397T @ $3.49 = $3.49
1 trex 450 3dx 450 shogun 3dx 400 CNC rc helicopter canopy white new strong @ $7.50 = $7.50
1 Trex Tail fin set 6.99
1 Blade 400 tail boom supports 3.99
1 K&B neon orange tail rotors 2.59
1 Custom made main shaft.

Here are a few while doing the setup.

After double and triple checking every screw I got to take a little test flight in the snow.

Many thanks to the wife for taking pics thru the window.

I was very pleased at how much better the stability was compaired to the original esky parts. There is still abit of tweeking to do as well as learning on my part. A new Gyro, an EXI frame, and a computer radio will be needed in the future, but as you can see by the parts list above I am going to have to wait awhile before the wife lets me spend anymore.

Again thanks to all the great people on this forum.

Jim.

Next thing you need is some skids. Gotta hate how the stock ones rotate
