Default $899 for T-Rex 700 DFC Super Combo

Wow, price has really come down on the T-rex 700 DFC.
Less than $900 for standard and less than $989 for the HV version.
This would be a good 700 size beater!

It's a fire sale, they are not manufactured anymore. New kits include both 800MX and EDGE series speed controller, which are significant upgrades.

You are right.

On the other hand price gap is big.

Good to start with $900 Align combo I suppose. Many other brands 700 naked kits are around 1 grand.

YEP 180A HV is around $200 and ESC can be upgraded later.

Gartt $48 motor is only 4.2kW but can handle 800. It is probably comparable with 700MX.

There are no cheap 11kW motors... yet.

800MX likes to get hotter than 700MX. It makes me think about increasing throttle curve of my 700 with cheap motor. Even in 800 I can touch it for few seconds after flight.

Probably for pilots flying 5Ah 65C lipos $600 is not a problem for noticably more powerful newer setup.

IMHO, it's fine.

I built one. Non-Pro DFC w/HV servos, 750MX, CC ICE2 120HV and 690mm 3G blades.

These kits include the following updates, either during production or added to the kit after manufacture:

Black main gear (production)
Black auto-gear (added, plus white gear installed)
Black tail shaft (non-stepped, added, plus stepped white gear installed)
Black torque tube gears front and rear (added, plus white gears installed)
Updated tail hub for non-stepped tail shaft (added, plus original hub installed)
New style 105mm tail blades (added, original type in kit)

To complete the kit you need a pinion spacer shim mounted between the pinion and lower motor shaft support bearing. This shim isn't shown or referenced in the manual packaged with these kits. Download an updated version of the manual.

These kits include an older style non-steel pinion. A stronger steel pinion is available. A pinion/bearing shim is packaged with the steel pinion.

No surprises during the build. Flies fine.

No tail hum at lower head speeds (1950/1850/1700) with Rail 106mm tail blades. I haven't tested head speeds above 2050RPM.

No issues with 750MX power output, servos are fine, ESC runs between 145 and 170F depending on ambient temp, HS and flight routine.

Great deal. If I haven't had mine already, I would have bought it.

In around 2.5 years Goblin 700 prices dropped from $999 to $600:
http://www.rc711.com/shop/sab-goblin...?cPath=165_315

I am not surprised to see older Align 700 DFC combos in much lower prices comparing to price at launch.

I will not get any Align combo. I already have four clones of 700 and parts to stretch each one to 800.

Combo you mentioned does not have gyro. It has CC ESC 120A which many consider to weak for hard flying which can burn in flames.

New servos look great but simillar performance offer new KST HV BL 815 and 805 servos which cost less than $60 (rebranded to Turnigy at HK). I use them in two 800.

By the way KST just released new line of X servos.

I would be ready to pay $300-$350 for naked Align kit. Align offers it for $850 with blades and motor. It is not very attractive.

My friend has helis with Align 850MX and 800MX motors. Soon he will compare them with $48 700 4.2KV 530kV Gartt motor (clone).

Servos, 180A HV YEP and gyro which I have in my 800 can be purchased for around $470.
Clone kit price is $215. Counting also Align parts I used for my stretch 800 final price of clone is very close if not higher than old Align Combo.

My point is... Clone 700 is not particularly atttractive considering good deals of older Align DFC combos.

Anyway I am happy with my 700/800 clones. Today I spent 11 hours at the field flying them and smaller helis and planks.
