Default It's Lonely in West Coast Canada...

I find myself very envious of the large groups of RC helicopter flyers and their clubs stateside. Even more so for us scale flyer types. I know there is a handful of us here in Vancouver, BC but we seem to be a little shy on facilities and events. Clubs here are predominantly fixed wing and when i have shown up, as welcoming as they were, I felt a bit of an outsider. I really like this hobby and I'd really like to meet with more of my peers.

I really wanted to hit the recent get together in Anderson CA and was going to fly my kit down and rent a car but it was my daughters birthday that weekend (just turned 11) and I was told to choose my priorities .

So, I looked through the events page and old calendars but didn't really see any heli events that might be closer to home ie. the Pacific Northwest area.

Is there such a beast and/or what would be the closest (distance wise) heli event for someone in this area..and when does it normally take place?

Cheers, fellow Freaks.

It's the end of the season now but there are several PNW events every year around Seattle, Spokane and Portland.
If you do Facebook search for the Northwest USA R/C Heli Community group and join up.
This year's schedule is already unpinned but next year's schedule will be posted as soon as all the dates are set.
If you would like to find out the events we had this year contact Brett Bowen on there, I'm sure he still has the schedule somewhere.

One event I know for sure next year will be just east of Spokane. It's right across from Silverwood theme park so you can bring the family and they'll have something to do too. I'm pretty sure it will be around the third weekend of June again.
Probably an 11 hour drive for you but that's the same I drive to get to the RCHN funfly in Oregon.

We have a heli flyin in the Okanogan interior every year.

Last one was at the (former) high country flyers field just outside of merit on way to Kamloops.

I speculate next year it will be at lesters field which is 5-10 mins out of Vernon towards Kamloops road.

Great bunch of guys. We all love to see the scale stuff also.

Typically held on the aug long weekend.

Check out the maac events.

Martin

Snohomish CMHC funfly is a must aswell

High country flyers event was a good turn out. I feel you about the number of us in BC seems small

There used to be a lot of heli events here in the Lower Mainland. Now I think the Mission Wings RC Heli fun fly is the only one left. And unfortunately we're only allowed to have a one day event. There are several good ones around BC but they're all done now. Wait till next year. The BC events may not be as big as the ones in other areas but you can get a lot of flying in at our events.

By the way, I sent you a PM.

Nothin in central Canada either. Very hard to find any pilots. The ones that were flying just season or two ago have all quit. I'm back to flying alone, have only bothered once in the last two months. I read on here a lot but seldom fly.
