Default Vbar gov and logo x maiden. Scary

Just attempted my maiden and it was nerve racking. Spool up and it kicks pretty good at spool up. Not soft at all compared to kontronik. Then when giving it right cyclic it adds a ton of throttle. Did a light pitch pump and at the top of it the motor pretty much shut off. I have never setup vbar gov and this is all stock gov settings/per vbar manual and it is way out of wack. Also I noticed when the heli is powered up and the esc finishes its startup beeps the motor is no longer easy to turn. Ideas or help?

Post a copy of your setup file.

Motor on brake = Normal.

Yeah I don't really like the tail kick on startup either. Though after that it's fine (No issues)

Coming from the Kontronicks softstart to the V-Bar softstart (At least until I get used to it kicking the tail out every time) is somewhat nerve racking.

No threadnapping please, different issue.

Twister, Sorry about dentist, never fun those things.
Good news, you have some wrong in the file.
In Governor I page, PRESS RESET, then re-do governor I & II page.
That way it will be MUCH better overall, especially with RPM on cyclic right

Startup: (for you both)
Try what I do in the Governor Video, check if you can go lower on Motor OFF setting in Governor II without getting delay when going out of throttle hold.

My personal YGE was like this, I ended up with -108 for me and MUCH softer start.
But I know this is not the same for all, but do try it.

as low as you can without getting ANY delay when going out of hold.
It's not as soft as Kontronik, but close, I can start with heli on ice, it only moves 10 cm or so with the tail.

Mr Mel
Watched your video & my low point with no delay is -94% & that won't shut the throttle off sometimes. I put it back on -100 for now . Checked all my trans settings in Vbar they are centered & -100 & +100. Did set my high end up to 102% in the govII page. Also had better starts after tightening blade bolts tighter than normal , giving the head a spin by hand to help & not hesitating with the throttle on initial startup.

Low point -94% without delay and no delay at -100? that's not possible??
Please post your setup file.

Note, I'm not talking about the old (pre-5.2) way of moving slider until motor starts, that was removed in 5.2..
Just so we are clear.

During prototyping and until now, we've experienced this as well. Various "kicks" on start-up. Coming from Kontronik, it is a little bothersome at first, but after awhile, it's just "normal" for the machine, and not even noticed anymore.

In the early days I was concerned about the main gear having trouble handling the kicks. But that has proven to be a false concern. The main gear is far more durable than I ever expected.

It helps to swing the blades as you walk away from it after putting it down, as any amount of rotational movement of the head helps minimize this as the system powers up from a dead stop.

It was a mix between nitro and electric mode, you never had pressed reset and therefore there is some leftovers still there.

Yes there is a delay at -100. I started at -120 huge delay had to take it clear back to -94 before it came up without delay.

I left them alone and took it out. Disaster again. Start spool up and it is making a pulsing noise/slipping noise so I shut it down right away and start inspecting an at first thought the pinion set screw came lose but it was actually the can spinning free of the shaft. I pulled on the can and attached a picture. Something I never check and something everyone else should. Looks like scorpion didn't tighten my 4 set screws at the top of the motor that holds the can on the shaft.

You should get a prize or something for being the first. I've never seen that happen before, on any heli with any motor.

Wow! There was a guy in the Henseleit forum who had a Pyro that was *missing* the top set screw (luckily he saw it before he installed the motor).

Now I always check that the set screws are there *and* Loctite'd on!

Ya I won't have this happen again. Of course it happens to me, I mean why wouldn't it lol. After I got that sorted I was able to do 2 flights before dark and the thing is amazing. I use bank switching on my other 2 logos but am just running one bank on the x at the moment and even though I'm just breaking in packs I can tell I'm gonna really enjoy this thing.
