Okay, I'll make it plainer for you. Align is med quality at best and I'm not trying to sell you anything else.

Unfortunately the Align DFC is flawed because it doesn't allow for teetering of the feathering shaft. The stiff alu arms will transmit all the energy to the links and pop them, and is why other manufacturers are looking closely at the dfc (Goblin removed). Compass has flexible links to allow for slight play of the feathering shaft.

Check and replace your hard dampers often if your going to stay with DFC from anyone but Compass. Personally I'm going to put metal dampers and lock the feathering shaft with the button screw. Blades will have to have some flex also (not real stiff).

A possible protective measure with the dfc swash balls would be to drill the balls in the center for a small allen screw and get a slightly coned washer on the outside of the plastic link, larger in diameter than the link without interfering with the swash. This would prevent the it from popping off though the range of swash motion on the link must be maintained.

It may sound hokey but even putting a firm fitting rubber band or two around the links near the swash would prevent them from dislodging. Small tie wraps would prevent the rubber bands from moving up and or down during flight and not hang up on the main shaft, good luck with this. It came to mind back in the summer before Roman P died. The object is to girdle the links without inhibiting their range of movement.

Yes...thanks. We've heard all Align quality arguments and fundamentals flaws of the DFC design before. This thread is about the 800 DFC Pro.

then I should clear up my concern being based on a 800dfc as cam ship. Some of the 800 vids I've seen are pretty impressive, though they should really beware of the dfc. It's good to explore solutions before accidents happen. I bought a 450 dfc head with a grinding nick on the main shaft. Won't be a big deal but small things become big problems real fast when it comes to rc helis, best to get one step ahead of any problem.

If you've spent some time searching the other forums for dfc related crashes and other mysterious Align head/blade related problems it would become evident that Align dfc is not problem free.

Or something like this.

Not normally removable but in a crash the link can still pop off the ball.

And so the bashing continues..... Thousands of very happy Align owners out there, will bet these bashers have not even seen the latest kits to experience the real quality and long lasting design that has gone into them.

Luckily I do.......

would that "long lasting design" be revision 1, 2, 3, 4, or 5?

nice, and if you include a coned washer (kind of like a standoff) on the outside of the ball coning away from the link that is larger than the ball but does not interfere with any movement of any kind then you've just added another factor of safety not included in the og. There should be plenty of room because the inner swash ball is parallel to the grip ball and blades, so does not interfere with the lower swash ball stems.
