I'm using one on a jr9503. I put mine on the rear deck where it gets lots of moving air. Probably overkill but there were some issues with the 120s. Setup is the same as the 120 and choose set gov. Mode on the cc link. I'm at 1500, 1750, and 1950 for rpm. Works great. I never got above 134 amps on mine so its well within the limits......

Castle has many videos to help walk you through the set up. I watch them every time since you more or less set them up once and don't touch them again. Good luck

Default end points?

thank you guys for replies.

the biggest problem i have is that i can not set throttle end points on it.
i've tried and tried but no go.

this is what i do:
i connect throttle connector from ESC to the usb link and connect main battery.
in the software on PC i select helicopter and end points and hit update.
then i disconnect it all and set travel on throttle on my transmitter both, high and low to
0%.

i push the throttle all the way up, connect ESC's throttle connector back to
receiver and turn on the receiver battery and main battery.

then i slowly start moving up the percentage on high throttle, but i can go ll the way
up to 150% but it never beeps like it's supposed to.

no clue what the issues is.

tx in is normal mode with linear throttle and throttle cut is not engaged.

and then i was wondering, do i have to set end points if i will be using it in governor mode??

thank you again guys

Hello Hunch
You need to set the low throttle to get the beep, i needed to go to 120% then added another 2 points...This was also on a DX7s

Default End points

So low throttle first, and then high??
Every video I've seen so far they say high first, then low..

Thank you

Default Call castle tech support

And let one of the techs walk you through it the first time.
It's better to hear it as your doing it rather than read it here as you can seriously injure yourself. Take the blades off before you call tech support. Try the set gov. Mode first it works fine for me. No need to calibrate throttle end
Pints when you use set gov. Mode. You do need to set your percentages for the n, idle 1 and 2 though.....ask for Thomas as he has some good heli experience.

thanks hidaven,
i thought that if i will be using it in only gov.mode end points wouldn't matter,
and that's what i set it up as...only gov.mode.

so you think 1500, 1750, 1950 is good setting for n, 1, 2?

i just got lower skids and i found a forum somewhere where somebody
used lower landing mount in the front and stock in the back and i kinda
like that looks so i will give it a shot.

i will post some pix tonight too.
i was making two sets of batteries and had a really hard time fitting
8AWG wire in ec5 connector but i took detailed pictures on how i did
it and it worked and looks pretty good.

thank you for all your info guys!!

thank you Curt,
still a no go...

do you turn on the receiver at all or is this just strictly USB CC plug plugged into ESC
and power applied to ESC.

no one says in any videos anything about this. i must be dumb. i was able
to setup everything else but this.

thank you!

EDIT: you can't have the castle link connected when programming the throttle endpoints you have to have the rx for the tx to talk to the ESC.
Remove main blades for safety, all three ESC leads to the motor must be connected.
1 .turn TX on
2. set throttle limits Hi and Low 30-50% edit; setting to high stick when the ESC is powered sets the ESC in programming mode, you also must have a linear throttle curve, straight line 0 to 100%.
3. set throttle stick to hi position
4. arm ESC
5. slowly raise Hi limit until ESC beeps then add two clicks, go slowly or you may go through the max before and then the limit will be too high and you'll over speed your motor.
6. move throttle stick to low position.
7. slowly raise Low limit until you hear the beep add two clicks.
8. The ESC should then arm

At this point if you raise your throttle the motor will spool up.
The first couple of times that I set the limits I went to fast and wound up with too high a limits at both the low and high ends. Max rpm was too high and the motor would shut off at 20% throttle. Slowed down going up through the limit values now it shutsdown in normal at 1-2% throttle.
Good luck

I've edited the previous post for some added info that I forgot.

I also believe that you must set the software for fixed endpoints first and update the ESC then set the throttle endpoints. After the endpoints are set then hook up the Castle Link and set to governor and put in your gear ratio and headspeed settings.

Default Additional points

Start out with those headspeeds. I also added the quick uk large skids and it did wonders for stability without any compromises in flying. They are 2 inches wider and about an inch longer but look much more scale than the stock 700 size. Also the gear are a bit more flexible which helps as I'm seeing a bit more ground effects due to the rotor size. The extra 2 inches helps out a lot on grass. Also make sure you set the timing and PWM setting on 12 in the castle link, this motor really comes alive at those settings. Just watch your temps as it gets warmer out.

Sounds good hidaven,

Yeah I'm in MN so it's going to be a while until temp will be an issue probably.

Hutch, is the bottom of your pinion even with the bottom of your main gear?

Default Re: pinion

Hidaven,

Almost, about 1 maybe 1.5 mm off.
I couldn't even it all the way because then I couldn't tight down the pinion
With two small screws for it because when its so high up and flush perfectly
With the main gear then there is no space to reach the two screws on the pinion.

Unless, I was thinking to mark it the way it is, take the motor out and move it up
About 1mm.

Is that the only way to get it perfectly flush with the main gear?

Hunch
