A heli wont hold 90 degree knife edge. We can create the illusion a couple of ways.
1. FFF, pitch the heli up very slightly and roll 90 degrees while going to zero collective. The model will describe a very gentle parabolic arc that gives the slight appearance of knife edge. 2. A very high speed circuit with the heli banked nearly at 90 degrees. When the heli transverses the flight line it is difficult to see the subtle angle off vertical. At the same time you can increase the radius of the turn by easing the elevator input being used to pull the heli through the turn. This has the effect of appearing to "hang" in knife edge flight. 3. Same as #2 with smooth and subtle transitions from upright to inverted. Really just a huge snake. This allows you to prolong the time that the heli tracks what appears to be a straight flight path. Once again you are creating the illusion of knife edge. |

I hear ya. I seem to have trouble keeping the heli close to knife edge on hard banks. It always wants to slide out for lack of better term. More sim time I suppose. Amazed at the difference in real life flying after a winter on the sim!

Tightness of the arc and speed are two factors that will influence how much knife edge you can hold.
To hold max knife edge you must be flying quite fast or be really leaning on the elevator when going slow; it will really load the heli up without speed. Max knife edge is difficult to do smoothly/repetitively contrary to pop op.

Best way to hold a knife edge is with mailed gloves, and don't cut hard things with it...
