Default Starting an OS 91sz in a Raptor 90SE

Hello,

After flying 60 size heli's for a number of years, I built a 90SE Raptor and installed an OS Max 91SZ-PS Hyper motor. My problem is finding enough juice to turn this beast over!

I dumped my "regular" Sullivan starter for a Hi-tork Sullivan starter but even with a car 12v car battery, It has trouble turning over the motor.

Do I need a 24v set up? I was able to modify an 18v DeWalt cordless drill to turn over the engine but why wouldn't a Hi-tork starter work?

Starting this engine is getting to be more of a pain than it's worth!

12 v isn't enough. I use a dynatron 12/24 v heavy duty starter with a 4s 2500 mah lipo and it starts like a dream.

Dynatron 12/24 with two 3S 11.1v lipos in series. Generates about 25v when fully charged, and would turn over a Model-T Ford . But you had better make sure your fan is really secured on the crankshaft, or you will spin it right off

I have Dynatron Starter with ZIPPY Flightmax 5000mAh 5S1P 30C. I'll get 18,5V and
it' s plenty enough for my R90SE with OS91HZ, but it's compact and easy to carry and also easy to start.

4 cell or 5 cell will also start a 90. For years I used two 7 cell r/c car batteries wired in series. 14 cells would do it every time! YOu can find Nimh packs for pretty cheap now.

You think they would take the picture of the 12v set up out of the manual since 12v isnt enough to start it.
