Default What's your gain value set at?

I have a Tarot 450 TT and I'm using my own Detrum gyro. I was wondering what is your gain value set at for positioning mode?

With Flymentor off my 450 is vibe free. With the recommended 70 gain value in positioning mode it vibrates like crazy. If I drop it to 50 it still vibrates a lot.

30 seems to slow it down but why such a big gap between 70 and 30?

-70 for balance mode seems ok

Thanks

You either have high vibrations on the heli or the FM gyro is not secured enough and moves during flight or both. The FM gyro needs to be mounted level on a gel pad or a couple of normal gyro pads and secured preferably with a velcro strap so it is solid and has sufficient vibration insulation.

Also maybe your cyclic servos are too slow?

Thanks for the help guys!

I'm using T-pro SG90....are they considered slow?

I also have the HXT900 as backup. Would those be a better choice?

Thanks

Those servos are pretty much the same, they are not to slow but you should use better quality servos for a heli.

Can you recommend better budget friendly servos?

I also moved the fm gyro under the heli and that seems to help a little

Thanks

Sorry can't help with budget servos you need to do some research. I use HS65MG on all my 450 size heli's.
You seem to have a vibration problem usually caused by the torque tube and FM is not going to work properly untill that problem is resoved which may mean converting to belt drive. You could try useing a gel pad to mount the FM gyro it may help.

Looking back when I had a BCPV2 (Belt version), I never had a vibration issue. Now that I have a TT this is what seems to be the issue.

This is what I've done:
1. Reset FM to factory mode and created a new model on my DX7.
2. Re-level the swashplate mechanically then with end points on High/Low sticks
3. Then I mounted the FM gyro under the heli (in front the back skids) and the camera on the side.
4. I set the gain to +70 and hovered it......BIG Difference!!
5. I then adjusted the swashplate through the FM unit to try and achieve a drift free hover....Getting really close but it still drifts a little.

I think mounting the FM gyro under the Heli was the big difference. I just need to order some Gel pads soon.

QUICK QUESTION:
On initial hover, does FM need a few seconds to properly stay in position mode? or it'll lock in asap?

Thanks Again

Officially it needs a few seconds but in practice if it is well set up, on a calm day it will lift and hover in position useing throttle only.
A heli will normally move left on lift off so be ready to give a little right stick.
I watch the blades and use the stick to keep them level as I increase throttle.
