No secret here.

keithsTR20XHP has sent a similar pm to me and I've seen it before the public reply.

I copy/paste the answer

Hi,

Those photos have a lot of time.

Actually I use a stock flybar, Xtreme head and anticollar, MicroHeli blade grips and main frame, a stock swashplate with shortened arms and Cusker mod (extremely responsive), Xtreme micro canopy.
The main blades are the Xtreme bmcx lower blade and I have filed off 3 mm.

In the pic on Cusker web site I had a modded MicroHeli flybar (walkera trimmed paddles), but with stock flybar it flies better

Paolo
I wasn't very pleased with the MicroHeli modded flybar, although it was similar to what you see in this post.

Default Shrink Tube on MSR Tail Motor Question

Nice job on your MSR, but, I have a question about the "heat shrink" on the tail motor: Does it cause the motor to run hot? If so, that may shorten it's useful life, a lot. I had countless hours and all kinds of crashes on my MSR and never had the tail motor fail or come apart. I'd fly one pack right after the other and neither motor got hot. Took over a year of daily use to finally wear out the tail motor, no big failure, just got weak.

Anyway, just wondering about the heat factor? thanks.

That's a thought I had too. So I approached the problem a little differently.

From what I've seen the endcap of the tailrotor-motor could be pushed out of the motor if something would hit the tailrotor shaft straight on.

I never thought that was possible on my own Msr until it happened and the endcap fell off.

But when mounting the new tailbom and motor and before mounting the rotor to the tailmotor shaft I figured that a hit straight on the tailrotor-axis probably won't push the rotorshaft out of the motor if I put something between the prop and the motor-housing.

So I did. I used two washer from an older feathering shaft (from the main rotor-hub) and some cut-off cabel-insulation as a spacer and put it between the tail-rotor and the motor-housing.

My plan was that if the tail rotor shaft would hit something, the force would be distributed by the prop, the washers and the spacer to the motor-housing instead of to the motorshaft and thus not push the motor-cap off...

This I did 6 months ago, and since then I've not had any problems with damaged tailmotor even though I've been crashing in every way possible (and some impossible ways too ).
I guess it works ...

Here comes a picture from the tailrotor fix.

When changing the airframe I also moded the swashpin-guide so it wouldn't jump out off the slot if I crash.
I just cut off the swashpin guide from the older airframe, turned it upside down and CA'd it to the guide on the new frame.
It's not pretty but it works. The swashpin stays in the slot no matter how much I crash.

Broke a linkage instead, but those should be exchanged now and then anyway...

Glad it's working good and no heat issues. Good job on the fix, I may use this sometime on my MSR.

What landing gear is that Bryce?

Here is mine, not all that fond of the landing gear but they are very strong, and have a unique look.

Mods:

microheli landing gear, linkage keeper, main rotor head, and swash. Glow in the dark flybar.

Running 160mah 20c batteries on two new motors (as of yesterday) easily will do 5 second hands off hover with absolutely no TBE.

Here's a few of my mSR, in possess of rebuild... While flying a close quarters mission against my cat, the mSR met the kitchen table....floor..... then the wall. Still waiting on tail motor and main rotor blades, will be back terrorizing the cat in no time.

Sorry for the crappy iPhone pics

With all that weight, will it take off?

Yes it will, pretty agile too. Using the stock battery I get 5-7 mins of flight time, best part is it's much quieter than stock

Is that flybar with the metal thing good? Does it eventually dig a groove into the shaft?

There are no adverse effects of the MH flybar, it has the same derlin pivot ball as the MH swashplate. From what I have read if you replace one piece between the frame and the blades, replace them all for best results.
