Default talon 90

Is it safe to use a talon 90 in my goblin 500? I still read a lot of horor story with cc esc. I don't plan to use the internal bec

I have been using my Talon 90 for almost a year now and never had any problems with it.

Mine's great. Quantum 4120/1200 17T pinion and 2500 RPM. Flys great!

I wouldn't run it with a high KV motor, like the scorp 4020-1350 with it. I had 3 fry on me before i changed to the Edge 100

What bec are you using with the edge 100? I take it it's the lite version of the edge?

Default talon 90

I would think twice. Just built a g500 with Quantum 4120-1200, Bk servos, mini Vbar and Talon. The Talon made my vbar brown out big time just hovering last weekend and it crashed. The log shows that the bec has struggeled several times the 15-20 flights i have had, and that's what you get when you cheap out on an important piece of hardware. I am going for a Jeti Mezon 90 rpm now, the one in my G700 has been flawless.

threads like this make me so hesitant to stick with the talon 90, especially with the scorpion 1350. To those of you with issues, did you have any warning from previous flights like super hot components post flight, etc?

would hate to wreck a heli over a component failure - i'm plenty good at wrecking them on my own, thank you!

FWIW I run a stock Blade 550x motor in my G500. It's spec's to pull 110a but flies fine on my Talon 90.

my set up:
Pulse 45c 4500mah batts
BK mini servos
iKon flybarless
Quantum 4120
>TALON 90<

using the iKon governor I have zero issues with my talon 90 and well over 200 flights, I will say I constantly contemplate of upgrading the esc for simple 'piece of mind'

I have the talon 90 in my trex 550 not had any issues and that's with the 730mx which is 850kv , sure that's a motor from a 700 ...

If it's good for a 550 then it will be ok for a 500

My problems have nothing to do with running a demanding motor. The problem is with the bec.

Goblin 700 Competition - Scorpion 4530 500kv - Jeti Mezon 130 - Vbar
Goblin 500 - Quantum 4120 1200kv - CC Talon - Mini Vbar
Spektrum Dx18

The built in Bec with the talon 90 works well like I have said never had issues with mine , from time to time all parts can fail even the premium components.

Default talon 90

I also run the Talon 90 in my Goblin 500 with the Quantum motor.
About 30 flights, no errors in my log.

But you can backup your bec like Bert does with a Backupguard from Scorpion or some caps...

I'm pretty sure Bert does not use the backup guard. From my experience, the Talon has no log, so you must be speaking of your FBL system log.

Default talon 90

Hi
I mentioned my telemetry log in my Futaba radio, that I had never experienced any voltage drops (errors) in the logged values.

I remember a video with Bert comparing the G500 setups he uses. One with the Jive and a HV BEC and one with the Talon and a Backup Guard.

Regards
Oliver

That was made over a year ago. He no longer runs that setup. That was a test setup.
