There is no comparisons between the two. Jeti makes a very nice well built versatile radio and is miles ahead on technology and will last a lifetime. If you are wanting to buy the best buy a Jeti. I think it would be impossible to out grow a Jeti.

spectrum Dx18 or jeti transmitter
You're asking this in a Jeti forum... The replies are going to be quite biased...
That being said, if price isn't a factor in making your decision, the Jeti TX should be your choice. If price is a factor, then the Jeti TX should also be your choice if you can afford it... |

If your debate is DX 18 and Jeti than the first post answered that already
I am an ardent fan of Jeti but if you fly helicopters only, then it is a bit of overkill. Lots of radios that will do what you need for helicopters. That being said, overkill means you will get voice activated alarms, messages of any kind you would like as to the status of anything you like, voice assignment to tell you what switch does what. A telemetry echo system that is second to none as of now. A radio that will make everyone at the field want one. A radio build like a tank (see https://www.helifreak.com/showthread.php?t=559068 ). A radio that will be ready for any future demands especially since Jeti is very attuned of what customer ask and responds to it very quickly

So I fly mostly Heli's but some planks too. I am in the midst of converting from DX8/Spektrum to Jeti. As stated, this is a Jeti Forum so the answers will tend to be biased. But I'll try to be objective:
Advantages to DX8/DX18: - Easier to find somebody with a Spek radio if you want to do a buddy box setup. - Vibration alarms - Somewhat easier and more intuitive to program. Lots of people available to help. - Ability to fly BNF Horizon products. Advantages to Jeti - Everything else (construction, flexibility, capabilitys, telemetry) With regards to the programming. EVERYTHING seems to be configurable on the Jeti, which is great, but also adds complexity. The Menu structure is not intuitive (in my opinion) Mike

I will choose Jeti over Spektrum for the following reasons:
- Hall sensor sticks - Voice alarms - Great telemetry functions - The LCD screen is on upper half of the Tx. It mean the screen won't be blocked by neck strap. If you are looking for budget choice, try FrSky Taranis. It is less than $200, but coming with OpenTx software, which gives you even better features in some area IMO. |

No need for vibrations alarms when your radio talks to you.

Anyway, having both a DX18 and a Jeti therefore hopefully providing an unbiased opinion, the question is soo easily answered. The Jeti knocks the socks off the DX18 in almost every regard. The only three advantages of the DX18 over the Jeti are: Vibe alerts- I really miss these on the Jeti Weight- the DX18 is a fair bit lighter (not that the Jeti's weight is an issue at all) BnF- You cant fly the Horizon Hobby BnF models In every other regard the Jeti is in a completely different league to the DX18 but then so is its price. In life though, you pays your money and take your choice.

Risking being pedantic, you are comparing a toy made by a company with a very bad history regarding bugs, bad track record with its 2.4 system whose sole aim is to be price leader, to a top of the line system with solid 2.4 technology, best in class telemetry, aiming for the best without charging premium like Futaba. Carrots and apples my friend. I am biased with fundamentals.

Spektrum radios definitely look like puffed plastic toys and are a bit cartoonish in style. Futaba's look very business like. JR is in the middle. Jeti also looks very businesslike which I appreciate.

I truly believe they think they are in the toy business. And they do have their long history of bugs. Did you check the updating problems the DX18 had? The binding problems? For some people not spending an additional 4 or 5 hundred is enough reason to cope with the lower quality. Nothing wrong with that, it's probably an intelligent purchase. I think you can do that for mid range radios or lower, not once you decide on a top of the line product.
It's a generation of companies born or grown under the revolution of asian low costs. A bit of western tech and design and off you go. They sell a ton, they grow and then they mature and start trying to combine cheap products with a bit better quality. Asians learn and start copying so they must innovate the same way as the companies they once competed against. Align is a perfect example of this as well. Nothing wrong with them, they just are what they are and it's true the biggest market is there. I don't like Spektrum and I don't choose it, and there's good reasons for that too. If you ask me, for a radio you either buy a $400 dollar one and replace it every 2 or 3 years or choose one that lasts anywhere from 5 to 15 years, buy once and buy best.

Yeah, that's true, nowadays companies try to push us to change as quickly as possible. Double reason to go with Jeti which offers a robust and durable product with amazing flexibility and constant software improvements.

Some day, though, I'm sure I'll wind up with a Jeti! Just can't afford it now... and that DX9 is looking pretty nice as an interim transmitter.

It is a very expensive radio, great features but still expensive. Great if you can afford it, me I will stick with my "unreliable" DX8 (that I have had exactly one issue with that was fixed in less than a week) and a jetibox profi for telemetry (since the spektrum stuff still cant manage to deliver mAh consumed) now that little box is good value .
