When you say linear, do you mean that it goes from zero to full throttle linearly, i.e. 0-25-50-75-100? Or is it a linear, flat line: 75-75-75-75-75? If you're using the former, then every change in pitch is going to also be changing your motor speed, and you just complicated your life immensely.

OK, Do you fly in IU1 or IU2 ?
Asking only because I can tell you from seeing many others do this, having a linear TC in any mode can be a bad idea. You may never hit normal when flying, but if it does happen for any number of reasons, you could get into trouble. If you need "0" in normal, so that the ESC arms, I suggest, something more like 0, 75,75,75,75, with soft start enabled, this way in case you hit normal, you'll still have decent head speed in positive, no matter where your collective is, except full negative, and still be able to arm the ESC, but if you fly inverted, anything but a flat, "V" or governed TC will be bad. I'm sure your up on this, so PLEASE dont think I'm assuming you dont know your stuff...everyone has their way of doing things. I just worry when I hear of someone having a linear TC with "0" for a flight mode.

Yeah, I've actually never owned an Align esc...I have all Castle. There are a few vids on youtube.
But I know it can be done. Once you get soft start activated, it's usually adjustable for a really, really slow start to a fast powerful start, just not a " straight to 75% start" ripping your main gear apart. I dont even have a normal TC anymore, but I run governed..Once you get proficient, a normal curve really isnt needed. But your already well on your way, as you already fly in IU.. thats good. The idea is if you get inverted, your throttle wont disappear if you bring the stick down below the 50% line. It'll still be holding 75% throttle, even in negative pitch..well.. until you pull the stick full negative. The its lights out. The way I had mine set up before I went governed, was I had 0,85,85,85,85 in normal.. I have a flat 85% in IU1, and a flat 95% in IU2. I only used normal, to bind and arm the esc. As soon as it was bound and armed, I switched to TH. This way I could check all the servos...then switched to IU1 or IU2, click off TH, and soft start spools it up to IU1 or IU2, and away she goes.... These days, because I fly governed, ( you will too eventually ) my normal is a flat "0" for the esc to arm...then IU1 is a flat 30%, and IU2 is a flat 70%, which is what the esc uses to go to my two, predetermined head speeds set up in the esc software. ( On my 500's, it's 2500 and 2650. On my 700 its 2000 and 2150 ) I know, alot to learn...but thats the fun... Again, keep us posted on the maiden after your rebuild....

I managed to overlook the part of the manual which gives details on how to program the ESC! . Now I have soft start enabled, do I adjust it within the tx?, theres nothing about adjusting it in the manual so I'm hoping its something I'm overlooking as usual lol. I would have maidend the 500 by now but the second servo that came also had the problem of my servo horns no fitting.... I hope Align haven't changed the size of the servo cog!.

Esc choices are super duper soft soft normal fast ... u just pick the one ya want on the esc ur done .
The esc is in charge of the starting of your motor .... it could be 100percent or 5 percent it will act the same way starting up one would just have a higher total RPM ... |

Nope, in the instructions theres only 3 options, 1. Normal Airpane/Glider Mode. 2. Helicopter 1 Mode, which provides a softstart feature. 3. Hilcopter Mode 2, this option supports soft start as well as Governor Mode.
Theres no mention of being able to adjust the amount of soft start, ie soft, softer or really soft...
