You have one of your main blades on backwards. In the pics and in the video.

Holy Crap…you’re right ChooperCrazy! Just came out to the mancave and read your post…looked over and sure enough, one of the blades are backward. Man do I feel like a total noob. Wow, I know I was rushing yesterday to get the bird finish, but geesh I can’t believe I did that. Well I guess with a wife in one ear and my son in another these thing can happen. But that’s not a good excuse, it should of never happen. Was planning on running a few batteries through it tomorrow….ummm, wonder how along it would have taking me to notice the blade was on backwards. Anyway, thanks again ChooperCrazy I owe you one.

Regarding the tail authority issue, I wonder how it will perform on a 4S setup.

Also, another thing to try is using the mCPX main blades for the tail as described in this post at the other forum:
http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showt...9#post21640086
I have used this on mine and so far I'm having a good experience. My setup is different though since I am using a DDVP tail.

HAROLD
Hey Bud, I know it didn’t look like it, but it was on 4s. Problem is I started out running a linear throttle and pitch curve, so in a hover with the larger blades the head speed was way down. I’m just a little under mid stick when she comes off the ground and just a little over mid stick cruzing around. Tomorrow after I put the one blade on right, I’m going to increase my throttle curve around mid stick and see where that gets me.

Thanks for link about using the mcpx blades. Will have to read up on this mod

Thanks Ice
I’m so loving the looks of the Gazaur canopy. I got to give Harold mad props for showing us how good this canopy looks on the DD 450 machine.

Default DD goes Scale

At the moment I'm also working on a DD.

My set-up:
Fuselage: EC 135
Motor Himax 250kV
Rotorhead: Rush - 4blade
Tail: Fenestron made in Germany

What I need is to know your headspeeds you did fly so far.

I have to know the min headspeed in order to calculate the right ratio for my fenestron which works perfectly starting 12.500.

Thank you in advance

Hi Andi

Not sure this is the best way for me to check headspeed, but I fly along and I want to get as close to actual head speed as I can. I set my pitch to zero across the board and spun the helicopter up on the ground. Then measure head speed with both micro tachometer and phone app and average the two readings which are real close together anyways. I know there is no blade loading so the numbers are on the high side , but think they’re close enough to give you an idea what the Funcopter direct drive motor is capable of.

On 3s
HS=2460 with a tail ratio of 4.54/1 = 11,168.84 tail rpm

On 4s
HS=3060 with a tail ratio of 4.54/1 = 13,892.40 tail rpm

Think your best bet is to go straight to 4s, which should give you enough room to play with head speed and tail ratio.

Thank you!
My idea is to have lowest possible headspeed.
Target from my side will be 1650 on the main rotor.
I know this is challanging. Therefore it is great support to know your experience with low headspeed.
The tailspeed topic I can only handle when I have the realistic min/max headspeed parameters.
Thx andi

Hello to all,

Very interesting topic, do not tell me whether it is possible to use as a direct drive motor T-Motor MN4014 / 330kV?
