Default Tail not holding with BL motor

Just got a HH Brushless motor fitted but now the tail kicks right when I give a pitch pump.

Any quick solution please without buying more upgrades?

Heli is otherwise stock

cheers

You can try reducing the pitch on your radio(around 85). Otherwise you can extend the boom with carbon rod.

i had the same issue when i upgraded,,i put a new tail motor on the heli and all is good,,it's possible your tail motor is a little weak,,with more power it can't keep up,,i have my pitch at 100 on top and bottom and it seems to do pretty good..sometimes when the boom is sprung it will do that also

The Nano's gyro is EXTREMELY sensitive to vibration. Tail problems are the most common symptom. They increased power and headspeed of the BL motor makes vibrations worse.

The stock boom length and stock tail motor can handle motors much stronger than the HH kit. Eliminating vibes is probably the best course of action.

Tail motors can get tired, but not often.

Cheers. Now I have checked spindle straightness and levelled swash at zero degrees what other things would you recommend checking to improve vibes. Blades are all as new.

Thanks...

I got rid of most vibes and the kick is less prominent.

What Throttle Percentage are you guys using on the HH Brushless motor. The RPM sounds much higher compared to the stock motor.

Also, I notice the heli does a little spin on the ground when I hit throttle hold after landing. Is this normal?

How do you know what is the source of the vibes?
How to balance the blades on such a small heli?

Make a blade balancer with a toothpick and a pair of drinking glasses.

Vibes sources are commonly:
Feathering shaft
Main shaft 'sprung' (twist the head holding the main gear... Should be tight, not springy)
Aftermarket grips out of balance.
Wallowed out rotor head.

Another source of wobble/vibration can be when the main gear slips down the main shaft. Just gently push it back up. You can tell if it has by looking to see if the main gear sits in the middle of the main motor pinion. If it's towards the bottom of the pinion then chances are the gear has moved. It invariably slips following a crash, even when you've managed to close the throttle in time.

I thought of putting something on the shaft to stop this from happening, but as someone explained to me, if it was fixed in place something else would have to give, and that something might need replacing each time!

Vibes are a good start, but Xtreme has a 7mm tail motor/tail assembly as well. Bigger motor, more holding power. I haven't tried it myself (yet), but I've heard good things about it solving blow out from a BL motor. And at $13, it doesn't blow the bank, either. You could go double brushless, but that starts getting rather spendy with a new esc etc...

I have just experimented with a 125mm solid boom. The kick is gone but I have a bit of a tail wag.

Little or no vibes.

I guess I need to go a little shorter on the boom. Any recommendations of optimal extended boom length please?

EDIT: Cut the boom down to 115mm and the wag is gone
