To Solder or not to solder, that is the question
So seems it might be better to solder the motor wires directly to the esc. Remove the little plug from the esc and the motor wires and solder them direct. Seems a shame since Paul went to all the work to put the plug on.

That's what I ended up doing.
Just wanted to say a big thank you to Paul for the 16500 kv kit with the BL tail, that he sent me and all the support. It flys so well I'm really happy! Highly recommend this BL kit! Cheers Bhu

I just installed my pjacq mild kit today and have a problem. I plug in the battery and get 3 ascending beeps, then I arm the esc and go to fly and the main blades only spin about 1 revolution and then the motor stops. Any idea whats wrong?
Edit: pjacq helped me solve it. The motor was binding on the servo spacer. Simple fix, and great after sale service!

Gears tight
I have installed the mild kit I got from Paul. The pinion and main gear are quite tight. How do you adjust this. I have not glued anything yet.
Thanks.. |

Ovam Main Gears
The new main gear i installed is seriously out of round. Causing all kinds of vibration. installed a different new main gear and all is fine. Glad I bought two main gears at the LHS

To fix tight gear mesh you need to remove the motor and remove a little material from the front of the motor mount - I just use a sharp #11 blade. After you get a good fit use a toothpick or sewing needle and apply a TINY amount of thin CA where the adapter ring meets the motor mount. It doesn't need much, and really only in one or two spots (depending on how tight the adapter fits into the mount). It should wick into the gaps enough to hold. You're just wanting to "tack" it in so it won't move in a crash, but can be removed when necessary.

Resoldered the motor directly to the board. I also cleaned up the power wires (I got a better tip for my soldering iron). Test flew it and it still bogs down more than the brushed motor. Maybe my batteries are tired. I have 4 Hyperion 180s coming tomorrow.

Loving my Nano CPx with pjacq BL kit
I installed my brushless kit yesterday and went to the local indoor dome fun fly today. There was quite a few nanos there but mine was the only brushless one. I only got the mild kit but after seeing it fly side by side with the stock nanos it was obvious that it had quite a bit more power. Maybe eventually I will try a wild motor but for now its the perfect living room flyer.
I had a hard time soldering the signal wire at first but eventually got it done. Thanks Pjacq Video [ame]http://youtu.be/N-LBR6xTJM4[/ame] Last edited by bobswika; 02-11-2013 at 09:57 AM.. Reason: Added video link |

Nice Video! Yours seems to fly better than mine. What batteries? I am still playing around with throttle settings. What are you using?

I installed my pjacq spacers with the HP03SE motor and XP-3A with BLHeli. Everything is soldered. But this thing has NO power at all. It can barely even climb. I've installed lots of BLheli brushless kits on micros before, but this is definitely a let down. The ESC is pulling power from the solder points of the stock battery lead. Could that be it? Should I directly solder to the ESC first and plug the battery into that instead?

I ended up using 75% throttle in idle 1 and 85 in idle 2. That seemed to give me the best results. I have a pitch curve starting at 15 and stopping at 85 in all modes. Bob |

Here is a picture of my esc install. I was pretty happy with the install but my try directly connecting the batt to the esc to se if I get a performance upgrade.

Still loving my full BL setup from pjacqs it flys so smooth. My only issue is that I can't get the RRC tail rotors across the pond so easily :-( will have to try and find a source as I'd love to get a green one and white one. Would still highly recommend this kit even without the power cable connected to the esc and running BL main and tail it never bogs. I use a small adapter to the stock power lead with intellect 250's and get 4 mins of flight every time with plenty spare.
Thanks again Paul Bhu

Brushless motor balance?
I have Pauls mild kit installed.
Has anyone tried running the BL motor by itself? In the frame with no main gear? There seens to be a lot of vibration coming from the motor???? I am chasing vibration on my Nano and have it pretty smooth but the motor alone is creating quite a bit of vibration. I don't have a gear puller or I would pop the motor apart and see if a magnet has come loose. Is this normal??? Loving the power, no issues there. Getting 4 minutes on the 25C EFlite 150s. Ted Thanks |
