Default G20 Radikal

Any views on purchasing a Radikal G20 kit in the UK. I've seen one advertised and thought about it, but Century Uk do not have them listed anymore so is it a discontinued modeI. Fancy a gas jobby this time round but I don't want to be buying a problem for spare parts.

why not a 700 size? The Whiplash gasser is a main contender. That is what I would build if I got tired of my trex 700 gasser conversion. Check out the gasser subforum here.

Well for one thing a G20 is a lot less expensive than a Whiplash 90 and Century's quality is still pretty good. Helicopter World has a very good price right now on the G10 HD version (G10 frame and a plastic Predator style head)

I am loving my G20 cf version. It performs well without the extra costs of the 700 in a crash. Check with Dennis at thehelifarm.com. you won't find any better customer service. The only complaint I have with my G20 is with the stock belt you have to pin the boom to avoid slippage causing loose belt tension. I chose to go torque tube on mine and am glad I did. I also went fbl with a sk540 that works beautifully on the G20.

oh no, I can not agree there, the Rad 30 is lighter than the MA, light enough to make a difference
but lets not make this a MA/Century fight

he is look at the Rad 20, I would recommend the it to anyone that is thinking about buying one, I will say, or recommend to buy a modified engine, that would be the thing to do, with a modified engine and 640 blades it has the best of both worlds (small & large), it gives the eye sight of a bigger heli yet uses less fuel than a 50

The HWC engine works very well on the platform Dan. I can tic toc mine all day with no issues. Mind you any heli can be made to bog if flown hard enough. I have had a thunder tiger x50 stall on take off (not my heli) as soon as I hit idle up. In the banked turns and big air it would bog extremely bad where my Rad 20 with the hwc motor that came with it eats it.

I will say to get the metal iso block with teflon gaskets though as mine leaked from day one. I ordered the metal one with gaskets from hanson motors.

Currently I am setup with 640mm rotortechs on the mains, rotortech tails, savox on cyclic and tail and an airtronics throttle. SK540 for my fbl controller with a wr super bec g2.

I do agree with Dan that the G20 will do it all.

Lots of good things being said about this heli, but like all businesses Century UK only stock what sells and the Kit is no longer listed. What's holding me back is the availability of spares if Century UK just run down their current stock. Getting anything into the UK from across the pond can be prohibitive with shipping taxes and other charges. Thanks for the feedback anyway guys, decisions, decisions ................

You can get the spares from Heli-World in the USA and also from some sources like Dennis P (The Heli-Farm) here on HeliFreaks. His shop is in Canada and he is in this forum reqularly helping the Century blokes out.

I agree, the new Radikal G-30 is a great 700 sized gasser heli to consider.

Check out this video (and there are others on youtube also:

yes I have seen that video, it's a crazy flight considering gassers of the past, but wait till that new 30/640 comes to the fields, it will put a whole new perception on gasser flying

Definition of Perception
1
a: a result of perceiving : observation (see perceive)
b: a mental image : concept

2
obsolete: consciousness

3
a: awareness of the elements of environment through physical sensation <color perception>
b: physical sensation interpreted in the light of experience

4
a: quick, acute, and intuitive cognition : appreciation
b: a capacity for comprehension

The G20 as mentioned above is certainly not discontinued. They are a great flying model that can be setup to be rock solid stable or a nice agile heli with good performance. My first one was a G20 Light G10 frames and a flybar. I flew it bone stock for 6 gallons of gas and changed one ball link, I feel will building the heli I oversized the link a little as all the others where still perfect. It was fuel and fly ,and fly very nicely it did. I sold it ..Story of my life

Centuey UK is a different company from the Century Helicopter Products company that designs and manufatures the genuine Century Helicoters of which the Swift 550 electric is the smallest size they make.

Century UK has drifted away from selling larger 550+ sized helis and now concentrates mostly on importing samll RTF electric helis from asian manufacturers such as Walkera, and putting the Century UK brand name on them. As many of these Walkera type of helis were not very reliable etc., As most people in the UK are not aware of this, the bad reputation these small helis developed in the UK has maade many there think that the larger Century helis must be the same. And as Century UK is no longer interested in the larger heli market, it seems to me that they in turn are no longer interested in developing the larger heli market fro the true Century manufactured Radikal series of gasser, nitro and electric helis, which are truely top shelf units.

Unfortunately, this leaves the UK consumer out in the dark relative to the true Century brand of helicopter. I do believe that if you check the Century Helicopter Products website you will find sources much closer to the UK, such as the one in France & Germany.
