Default Rotorfest 2016, Livermore, CA June 25th

Livermore Flying Electrons is proud to present Rotorfest 2016. This will be a one day helicopter fly-in event on Saturday June 25th. Rotorfest will start at 8AM and will go at least until sunset. If there is enough interest we can stay for night flying.

The location is the LFE club field located at 4455 Raymond Rd., Livermore CA.

Registration will be the same as last year: $10 for guest pilots, free for LFE member pilots, free for sponsored pros in exchange for a Noon-time demo flight, and free for all non-pilots, spectators, and guests.

A BBQ lunch, water and soft drinks will be available for which we ask a suggested donation.
All fuel types are welcome: electric, nitro, gas, and turbine.

As in past years we will have a raffle and an autorotation contest.

LFE has AC charging power available but if you have a generator, please bring it since we tend to trip the breakers at least once or twice when everyone gets those 1kW chargers humming.

LFE has shaded tables in our pit area but if you have a shade pop-up, it’s not a bad idea to bring it along with a folding table.

LFE has a number of basic plastic chairs but it’s a good idea to bring your own folding chairs.
The event flier is below. Also attached is a printable flier that you can download, print out, post, and hand out to anyone interested.

Will be there. Will we have any night flying this year? Any interest in spot lighting or flood lights?

If there is enough interest, we can stay and do night flying. There is not much chance that we will have flood lights. We have been doing some spot light flying at our monthly night flies. JT and I have some lights already and you and others can bring more. So either spot lights or LED lit models.

It would help if we can get people posting here if they are coming and interested in night flying.

Rotorfest is now only a few weeks away. We tested my new spotlight system last weekend and it worked great so yes there will definitely be night flying and you don't need an LED lit model. I did spotlight flying last weekend and if I can do it anyone can do it. Note that sadly, night flying is limited to electric only due to issues with neighbors. Before sunset, any form of power goes as usual.

We have the event on Facebook

Default Rotorfest in 1 day

Its almost time for Rotorfest.

The club just added five new sections of shaded pit area. Each section is 16 feet wide. These new section of pit area do not have tables to AC power yet (like the older sections do). So bring a table and a generator and make good use of the new pit area.

Might try a low headspeed spotlight flight with the 770. :-)

Default Some early pictures

At least 150 of the 700/800 size heli's and a bunch of smaller stuff. The new Protos 380 flew and so did a variety of Protos 700/800 as well as other brands were very well represented such as Align, Goblin, Mikado etc . Just check the pictures.,

Thanks to the Livermore club for a great event! Some super flyers there today. I really enjoyed the low head speed flights, what an eye opener for me. I'm going to rethink some head speeds on a heli or two
