Hitec Optic 6 : Ratchet on Throttle

Need a bit of advice.

I have been flying my TRex and Belt-CP with the Optic 6 but have been finding the ratchet throttle too coarse....so a quick delve into the back of the tx and I removed the spring steel that creates the ratchet.

Now I have a smooth throttle throw but I am worried that there is not enough friction now. Is there a better way of removing the ratchet without removing all the stick friction?

Hi,

When I got my Optic 6 it came with an alternative spring steel plate that gave you some resistance but no ratcheting. I presume you didn't? You could always try refitting the original but with a piece of tubing over the end so you can't feel the ratchet and then bending to adjust the tension!

If you call Hitec, they will send you a new non-ratcheting spring. I had to do that for my Eclipse 7. Great people Hitec. I just wish they had been able to get their 9 channel out.

Or push a bit of fuel tubing over the spring

I have the same problem, but can't even figure out how to open up the Optic6!

I removed the battery, the module, the four long screws from the back, and the two small screws from the handle. It seems to be hanging up on the side where that black trim wraps around.

Am I missing something, or is it time to just yank it apart?
The plastic seems a bit brittle, so I'm hesitant to apply too much force having never opened up this one before.

you have to remove both black trim warparounds before the case will come apart. I use a flat
screwdriver to pry off the black trim.

Taking the clicks out is very easy, All you have to do is manipulte te spring thats already in there. Hammer/flatten on a vise, Out the V bend and put a nice big radii (with a pair of needle nose) on the spring were you think (eyeball/measure) it's going to contact the gears. After that you can overbend the spring steel to get more tension if needed. I have done tis on a few Tx's including an old optic 6 I had.

Thanks guys - I finally figured it out after tinkering for a while. :-)
I just flipped the steel upside down, and it gave a smooth tension that works for me.
