Default why am i at 100 percent gain ?????

i wondering if its normal to be able to go 100% on the tail gain without any tail wag in a hover. my hold gain is at 85 percent.

does the rate gain not come into play when in HH mode

is the gyro just that good, that i can go 100 percent with no wag. or do i need to work on the linkage and ball links. im just not used to be able to go 100 percent and seeing somekind of visible --back off of the gain-- signs from the tail.

the tail has more than enough power to pirouette the heli against the torque at a dizzying rate. so i know its not a tail power issue.

ok it just hit me, the rate gain and hold gain can both be set to 100, its the tail gain numbrer that decides what percentage of that 100 is actually used... for example if i set the rate and hold gain to 100 and my tail gain is at 75 then im actually only using 75% of the 100 i set in the rate and hold gain boxes .....is that correct

Activate "Display Flight Gains Matrix", and it will tell you what is actualy being used in a particular flight mode.

I should add that I've definitely seen tail wags with the gain set too high for the conditions.

My vague understanding is that Rate Gain controls how much [demanded yaw velocity - measured yaw velocity] is fed into the tail pitch; whereas Hold Gain controls how much {the integral of [demanded yaw velocity - measured yaw velocity]} is fed in. The latter is effectively position error, so gives heading hold. Roughly.

Yes - but that's mechanical, so you can see that.

It's harder to see what numbers the SK is multiplying by your numbers to give the numbers it will actually use. And the manual doesn't always help with those scaling algorithms... [Scale Damping Gains comes to mind as something I read through a lot of times - then went to the Matrix...]
