Default Wiring YGE with WR BEC

Building first Mikado... a 700 Xxtreme and using YGE 160HV; MKS X8 servos; WR Hercules super BEC pro; VBar Silverline pro 5.3. Intend to run servo wires direct to BEC then to VBar. Do I disconnect the red wire from the ESC input lead that plugs into the Colle/ESC port of the VBar ? This is an instruction on the WR manual. Thanks.

The ESC doesn't have any BEC power on lead , no need to remove.

I don't know how the X8 servo's rate as far as power consumption (high or low).

I'd ask someone running them to see if the WR bec is up to the task.

Or consider an 8v setting on bec and a backup buffer pack.

Myself I've gone to the separate rx pack (2s lipo) for power , pain yes , but with these big heli's they draw big currents. Consider a 800 will be about 1200 to crash, I did it this spring

I've had the battery pack connections fail (unsolder) on me 2 times now , with buffer/sep rx pack you can auto and save. I've changed to silver solder for my power connections.

PS , I'm down in Penticton , we have a heli event every year in Kelowna , come on down and do some flyin' with us

Thanks for info Martin. Have set BEC to 8.2V, the X8's are HV 6~8.4V but don't know the consumption rating. That's a big buck for downing one of these birds, sorry to hear that.
Thanks for invite to your heli get together. I know of a few guys that have gone down for that. I'm only a 2 hour drive up the road in Kamloops so will look for that this summer.

Cool , your closer than I thought.

Have to bring that logo down , there pretty scarce around here

Back to OT

Give the BEC thing a bit of research though.

I love the BEC theory and couldn't imagine not running one on a 600 ,but the cost of an 800 and the amps being pulled brings up a whole new set of questions.

Myself I run a 2s2p 4000mah pack.

I typically draw about 200-300 mah per flight ( jr8917 / fut bls256 ) on the 800. I fly 3 flights on Saturday and 3 on sunday typically , so a weekends worth of flights is about 1000 mah or so.

4000 mah drastically over the required amount so huge safety margin .

I still use a WR volt monitor though - the blinking colour changing unit one.
