E-Flite CP Pro for a beginner?
I just recently got into the hobby and might be able to get an excellent deal on a CP Pro. Would that be totally out of range for me? I'm especially curious if I could fly it in a gym, or if it would just be too large. I have a DX7s, so I can do D/R and expo as needed to get the hang of it.

Do not, I repeat, DO NOT use the CP Pro as your first helicopter. In fact, don't buy one at all, ever. They are horrible and will likely hinder your progress in the hobby more than help it.
Go with a an mCPX BNF. It's an excellent little helicopter and will work well with your DX7.

Glad I caught you before you picked it up. Seriously though, if you liked the MSR and want a good indoor flyer, go with the Nano CPX. If you want a good indoor/outdoor flyer, the mCPX is awesome with the extended tail boom!

As far as the best overall collective trainer, would you pick the nano or the mCP X?

Personally, I would go mCPX with an extended tail boom. It's much more stable (or at least mine is) and is a much better outdoor flyer. I fly my mCPX outdoors more than indoors!

Lol! I came here to warn against the CP Pro as well. Glad you didn't pick it up.
I had one as my first heli. It's so bad that I actually stopped helis and just flew planks for 5 years!! I figured all helis flew like that. Got back into it with an mCPx. You'll love it.
