I'd imagine if they are coming out of whatever slump they are in, its tough coming back? I hope all is well with the Avant family! I want to fly and enjoy this old Aurora!

Man... I'm still hoping for the best.

I love this heli and I have a process I have to work through in my head to fly the thing. (And I really really want to fly the thing.)

I need to know that I can fix it. So I look at things that are likely to break and need fixing... and find an alternative part that with some work, will get the job done. Just knowing where I can get a head, shaft, etc, will get me covered where I can still enjoy the heli. Might confine me to "Big Air" type stuff, but I can fly it and relax and really enjoy it.

I'm not really envisioning anything that will break certain parts...

1 - The Mono-block. (Short of a dirt nap into a running car crusher.)
2 - The main gears. (I see the belt slipping or popping before the gears do.)
3 - The intermediary shafts (Maybe I'm wrong but don't see these being broken or bent easily either.)

Worries are the main shaft, feathering shaft, and few other goodies. The tail can be replaced, but it also looks sturdy and unlikely to need replacing except bearings. The boom is a CF tube and red paint. Belts etc are standard. Even pulley's / pinions are standard.

As long as I have a compatible or workable parts list, I'm good.

Many Helis uses 12 mm main shafts and 10 mm spindle. Dont see a problem here. If you have som skills, you could make a mold for the tail boom and make some by yourself.

No. That's not how this works.

To make structural pieces out of CF you will need a vacuum mold. I challenge anyone to make a tubular vacuum mold at home.

So that what you are saying is, that if I havenīt a so called turbular vakum mold-i am unable to make a boom and canopy?

Thats the weirdest thing ive ever heard. I made 2 molds. One for my Henseleit Three Dee NT (10 years ago). And one from the Goblin Speed Canopy.
With the Goblin mold I did 3 CF Canopys until now.....
And this winter I am going to make a mold for the Goblin Boom.
The only atvantege using vacum is for very light canopys, because all of the epoxy wich is to much will be pressed out due to the vacum.
Furthermore, vacum can be used on regular molds too, you vil need a pump and some tubing, sealer and speciel plastik bags.
Just take a look here, http://shop1.r-g.de/item/390100
i order all my CF and epoxy from this company in Germany.

No, the main use for a vacuum mold is getting the air of out of the epoxy, also called the "degassing" stage.

You can make canopies all day long without degassing the part, because canopies aren't structural.

If you want to make a boom, which is a structural part, without degassing then don't be surprised if it fails. Just an FYI. I say go ahead and try it, if you want to. Worst thing that can happen is that you learn something new.
