A little shameless self-promotion
I know we have all seen a ton of compass vids with all out insane HS but they can do low headspeed too! I was inspired by Kyle, AJ and Art weekend before last at the fantastic Toronto FF to try my hand at low headspeed 3D. I will work towards getting my headspeed lower, but this is a good start I think (you can skip the first 50sec where I am detuning the headspeed).
Thanks for filming Kyle. I now wanna see some low HS 3D flying from everyone else.

Nicely done, Dom. Did Kyle and the gang stay a few extra days or something, or are we talking about a different Kyle?
I've seen Rob Cherry run his E7 on 6S and Slyster try his Goblin 700 on 6S ... it's bizarre to listen to but the motor and ESC come down cool and they seem to get good flight times with it as well. |

So now you'll be taking up the flightline for 10 minutes in a row instead of 6? LOL
As always great flight Dom. One of the very few actually filmed. What did Santino tach you at on that flight?

Lookin good Dom.
If your ESC is getting hot from running low throttle% try running with just one pack (6S) then you can run same throttle% and cut HS in 1/2. If you can't get CG with one of your 6HV packs (3000's?) maybe try a 6S 5000.

San tached me at 1800 unloaded 1700 loaded, not bad for no gov. I will continue to work my way down to a lower and lower HS. I don't want a specific setup, I just wanna play around with it when I am done flying for the day and just wanna horse around.
Art and Kyle kept flying all of Sunday, I left around 5 but I heard they stuck around until 7-8. We will be seeing them again when we head down to the Rochester FF next month. Only problem with low HS is you realize how bad your bearings have gotten.

Yeah the machine barely makes over the top of my piro loops, and simply refuses to pogo.

Try the Edge FB blades, quicker on Cyclic and lighter meaning faster HS recovery.

Nice vid, Dominic. I've been enjoying it as well. The 6HV is ideal for low head speed 3d. Unfortunately, I don't have anyone to record my flights. I've been flying the majority of my flights at close to the same speed as your lowest in the video, but have been experimenting around the 20 to 40 percent throttle range for some time. I have a Vbar bank for low speed and one for high. I find the low speed of the day depends on how much wind is blowing. Windy days need a bit more speed for best tail authority, say 40% throttle (around 1600 rpm), but when it's more calm, I've found the bird will do it all at 30% (around 1500 rpm). Cool part is 8-10 min flights if desired. It's a lot of fun for me, as it allows me to work more on being precise on position and heading. Exiting moves exactly as desired, with time to correct. It's also a bit nicer for flying in close where it's easier to see the details. Nice smooth, slow piro flips, funnels, hurricanes and dead steady low altitude inverted passes close to the ground.
This vid isn't as nice as yours, but at 1:35, I flipped to 40% throttle from 65%.
